Ron Paul speaks the truth...

Many of the early proponents of libertarian ideologies were women, including Ayn Rand and Rose Wilder Lane.

Interesting. What happened? I've never met a female Libertarian. Did women stop wanting freedom?

Wow, the socialists of the GB have jumped on this like a koala on a eucalyptus tree. They must be scared.

Scared of what?

Of Ron Paul?

It looked like the republicans were far more scared of him than liberals were.

It's hard to say. Women are always underrepresented in politics (they make up approximately 80 out of 435 in the House and 17 out of 100 in the Senate), so that's probably part of it. Also, I think there's a lot of misunderstanding about libertarianism floating around. Some probably view it a sexist and/or racist ideology, which is opposite of the truth. That's all just conjecture, though. I don't have any hard numbers.

Not necessarily Paul, but his and other's "radical" concepts, such as civil liberties and laissez-faire capitalism. Both parties are scared of people realizing the merits of small government. That's why they choose to marginalize and call people like him "crazy" instead of actually arguing the points.

Some of the things that Ron Paul talks about are quite rational. Other things are "crazy."

I don't think that many people have a problem with small government, but it seems that Paul at times wants no government.

Not to mention his history of wacky conspiracy theories like the NAFTA superhighway which would dissolve US National sovereignty.

Ron Paul scares the crap out of Democrats and Republicans because they ARE very content controlling the government and they are beholden to very powerful constituencies.

Make no mistake: the Republicans and Democrats don't get their hundreds of millions of dollars from Joe and Jane Sixpack. The elections are now a battle of companies who make billions off the Federal dole.

Ron Paul was a huge threat to the controlling parties. The Democrats worked against him via their media mouthpieces (like MSNBC) and the Republicans did the same.

The comparison of libertarians to anarchists is a popular false equivalency, but it's just that. It's like comparing socialists to Nazis because they share a few opinions.

As for his conspiracy theories, most of them are not entirely without merit. For instance, why can't the Treasury just let someone into Fort Knox to see the gold? That would shut everyone up.

That's pretty much the size of it. The thought of a man that does not take money from lobbyists is terrifying to those that are interested in maintaining the status quo.

Ron Paul seems to think that almost all regulations are bad and that the free market is fine with self-policing which is pretty laughable.

His theories over the years include "spreading fears of syringe-bearing, preteen black women wandering the streets of New York infecting white women with HIV; and speculated that the 1993 World Trade Center bombing was secretly engineered by Israeli spies?" That's not the guy I want in the white house. Period.

Ron Paul said:
"If it's not accepted that big government, fiat money, ignoring liberty, central economic planning, welfarism, and warfarism caused our crisis . . .

. . . then, and only then, do we have any hope of solving it.

However, Ron Paul did take full advantage of the Congressional Page program. The reason we never see Dr. Paul in shorts is because he has tattooed the names of his favorite Pages on his inner left thigh.

That's a Paul-family tradition.

Where did you read that, the RNC website? Those "newsletters" were not written by Representative Paul, nor were they approved by him. I could find a million outrageous statements from Obama supporters, but that would not mean that he believes them.

Bettie was probably his favorite. He's old enough.

So go campaign for him if you buy what he is selling. Personally I don't support a lot of his views.

I was providing examples of his conspiracy theories, not racist views per se.

"spreading fears of syringe-bearing, preteen black women wandering the streets of New York infecting white women with HIV"

If this is not an accusation of racism, then nothing is. Ron Paul has never once suggested that he believes anything like the above.

We were discussing his conspiracy theories. I then called them theories a second time. I never once called him a racist or called his views racist.

It was an accusation of him being a nut-job, not a racist which is consistent with my other posts in this thread.
