The doctors in the 1950s seemed to think they had all the answers and their (mal)practise has now become the norm. No one can decide on the basis of genital presentation what gender these individuals will late identify: surely this is accepted now? Apparently not. I hope the legal test case proves a success and people stop meddling in the gender of infants unless there is an urgent and threatening need for it.
