Educator Roll Call

Welcome hoosiergirl! As a secondary ed teacher, I don't know how you guys (and gals :) ) do it... lol

What subject do you like teaching the kids?

In all honesty, I love teaching my students to read. I have taught kindergarten the last three years and to watch them learn to read independently is just incredible. Also, writing is a favorite subject for much of the same reason. When they understand that they can put their thoughts down on paper it is an incredible experience. I am just grateful and blessed to be able to share these special years with them.

Sorry, not a hot, naughty answer, but an honest one. :)

And, hoosiergirl, it's the students of teachers like yourself who I've always looked forward to seeing in my college classes...students who enjoy reading and writing are students whose writing I enjoy reading.

It makes me smile and jump up and down inside when my students actually complain about NOT getting the opportunity to write each day. When circumstances arise and writing time has to be reduced or eliminated for the day, the students actually grumble. I LOVE IT!!!! They are just so precious!

They also write such interesting stories...When my kids were in elementary school, I used to vounteer for reading and art. Sometimes I'd combine the two, and tell a tale as vividly as I could and then get out art materials for them to illustrate the story. Enthusiasm was abundant and infectious!

I was a middle school teacher for 10 yrs... specialised in Religious Studies (on curriculum in UK but know it isn't in America)... been stay at home mum 2 yrs but still big part of me identifies as a teacher... does that count?

Learning to be a teacher

I just started working on a second degree in Art Education. I would love to become an art teacher at the elementary school level... though any grade level would work.

there is another thread on lit that says that teaching is the horniest profession , are you drawn to the profession because of that

Been teaching in England for 12 years - mostly to juniors at primary level. Not enough yummy-mummy types over the years though :(

i have taught in many universities over the last 31 years and had my time of lust

I just love working with little kids. They are so excited to learn new things that it makes it fun for me to re-learn those same things.

Teach World History to 12 year olds .... i *love* teaching ... absolutely a vocation more than a job.

(another horny teacher here, LOL)

I'm a school board member, does that count?

That completely depends on your attitude toward teachers ... on our school board there are members who respect us and understand the challenges we face. and there is 1 who thinks teachers whine and complain too much and get paid entirely more than they are worth.

Wife and I are both teachers, she is an elementary teacher and I work in the HS setting. Both love it and yes, both horny...:D

thread

I just found this thread and was pleasantly surprised to find it....I'm not a teacher but am a Behavioural Specialist who works for the local school board. I travel to all the schools in our boards designing programs to help students with behavioural issues that get in their way of learning.

How awesome! That has got to be a very interesting job!

just stepped away from 8 years of teaching Special education, LOVED it but needed away from that stress, So I guess you can say I am an ex-educator :) So glad to find this thread floating around the world of Lit :)

RC, I only make house calls to the naughtiest of students. Do you fit that criteria???

i am sure your PTA meets are a big success with dads of your students taking more interest in their children s education

I have been teaching dance (tap and ballet) for ten years, to little people from age 2 1/2 to 6. I love being able to sit down on the floor with the kids and interact with them on their "level." I have been blessed to have two children, who have been identified by school districts as being "special needs" students, in my class. In a class that involves movement and creativity, they respond just like any other little kid pretending to swim like a goldfish. It can be a very emotional time for their parents, and I just love being able to let them play in a grade-free environment. Just wanted to throw my two cents in the educator thread.
