Bravo Brian. But you know as well as I that Scouries doesn't give a shit about who is offended or the wishes of others. As long as he is allowed his say, he'll continue on with his ways. Especially now that a feminine personality has come to the fore, though she doesn't sound very feminine does she?drksideofthemoon said:I have never advertised any of my stories, or asked for people to read my work. I fail to see how removing my name and my work from your flawed list is foresaking my readers. You are asking for people to add their names to your list, it is only fair to allow someone to have their name removed if it is their wish not to participate.

I so agree on some of them. There are some excellent writers listed in his "club" such as Drksideofthemoon.DeeZire said:If the quality of Scouries' stories is indicative of the rest of the work on this list, I think I'll look elsewhere for reading recommendations.
I didn't mean to impugn other writers. It's just that any list with Scouries name on it is going to lack credibility, by virtue of the fact that his writing is so...what's the word...average?Daniellekitten said:I so agree on some of them. scouries said:And Re the Top Rated List:
I have no desire to disparage either the stories or the authors of the stories on this list (Yes you do because you're not on the list even with all your views and votes) but feel a couple of points might be in order. I looked at the first page of this list today (the top 75 rated stories All-Time, All Categories) and found the following:
-At least 68 of the 75 were the 2nd chapter or a later chapter in a serial story.
-52 came from the Novels and Novellas category, 18 Sci-Fi or Non-Human, 3 Romance and one each from Gay and Celebrities
-No stories from before 2005 and a large majority came from 2007 (43/75) or 2006 (20/75).
-Only five stories with more than 100 votes (although a couple are yours – now I begin to understand why you like this list! I also found five others by the lady who’s been accusing me of unlady like behavior – you think she might have mentioned her self interest in the debate don’t you?) (Jealousy is so unbecoming on your part)
(I agree that a story should have at least 50 votes (That point it is eligible for any awards) to be on a top list but 10 is the number used by the site.)
The problems this list presents to those Literotican readers who open it in search of good stories to read is quite obvious:
1) Whether we like it or not the vast majority of the Literotica reading public prefers one chapter, complete stories to long multi chapter epics. Someone isn’t likely to click open chapter 13 of a story he’s never seen before. (The majority of readers are looking for stroke material. Period. They could care less about the category or anything else as long as it gets them off.)
2) There is not one story represented from the 7 most popular categories among our readers: INCEST, MATURE, LOVING WIVES, EROTIC COUPLES, NON-CONSENT, BDSM, and GROUP SEX. (Except for mature see above.)
3) No stories that have stood the test of time are represented here. Where are the great stories from 2004/3/2/1/0?( Readers were fewer and much more picky back then Plus the number of stories with only ten votes knocked a lot of them off the top list.)
4) Any story with less than 100 votes doesn’t have a large enough sample size to avoid the vote rigging we’re all too familiar with from Literotica’s contest scene. (Who says the voting is rigged other than you? If it was rigged then the AH's you blame it on would win every contest. Sorry to disappoint you but that ain't true. Sure we place in a lot of contests but then we on a whole enter more. Most of the first place prizes are won by unknowns in the AH. Check your facts and try again.)
5) We don’t know the score of the first chapter in the novel. As just about everyone knows the first chapter gives a much fairer and informative rating of the story in question than some subsequent chapter. (According to what?)You get rid of the people who don’t like it! For example, by the time someones slogged through 20+ chapters of a story he’s not likely to vote anything but a 5 is he?(Again, what are you basing this assumption on?)
6) Huge duplication on the lists. The top 500 probably only has 200 different stories on it, if that.
I have absolute confidence in saying that if we randomly assigned stories from the All-Time Highest Rated list to 1000 typical readers who visited the site and asked them to rate them that not one of them would have an Average Score of over three (3) the next day. ("Bullshit, there is absolutely no way you could know that.)
This doesn’t mean the stories are terrible, it just means they’d never be the first choice of most of our readers. (Someone must like them, they are on the top list after all. You are assuming that all readers on this site prefer incest.)
And while clicking open the Top Rated stories by category will allieviate problem #2, the rest of the problems remain on these sub lists.
The list of Top Vote receiving stories we’ve presented here may not be perfect but I guarantee you that our typical ‘Literotica Reader’ (Exactly what is the Typical Lit reader and how did you come up with this demographic?) would be happier with the stories on Mr. Scouries list than he would be with the other. And that’s borne out by the number of votes and the number of views they’ve received. (Views mean nothing we've already proven that otherwise you wouldn't have switched to votes. As for votes, without a good score to go with the number, it's still not a good story.)
All this list does is give another resource to our readers. (Ok, I'll go along with that , If you'll leave the rest of the bullshit out.) To use or not use. I’m not suggesting we get rid of the other lists. To each his own. So why are you all so threatened by it? (No one is threatened by this list. It's the rest of the crap that gets to us. Post the list, update it but it's not the do all, end all, list of best stories. It's a list of stories with over 1000 votes. Period.)

Daniellekitten said:I There are some excellent writers listed in his "club" such as Drksideofthemoon.
Actually, I'm not jealous of his little "club". Even if I had a story that would qualify, I wouldn't want to be in it. I think the most votes I have on a story is in the five hundreds somewhere, but I don't keep track of it.TruthOrDare said:What, are you jealous because you don't have any stories listed in his "club" I wonder. No wait, you do, and yet you bitch about it. C'mon, Ms. Moon, get a life.

Upon what basis do you suppose advertisers pay this fucking porn site? Could it be visitors? And why do you suppose visitors visit in the first place? Could it be to read the fucking porn? And what author's porn do you suppose gets the most visitors? (Hint: it's not you)
scouries said:MR. TEX – thanks guy, finally a post that addresses the issues. Not that I agree with everything you say of course. (No you wouldn't, would you)
Yes, 50 votes should be the absolute minimum to get on an All-Time top rated list. Given the literrally hundreds of thousands of readers who visit the site each week 50 votes is certainly not asking too much. Personally I’d prefer at least a 100 vote minimum (for both lists and contests!).(50 is plenty for the top lists but to many for contests that last for less than a month. That is why the number was dropped to 25.)
Re your comment: Readers were fewer and much more picky back then… I’m not so sure it was the fewer numbers of readers but agree it was that they were pickier – i.e. they scored the stories in a much more demanding way. In todays Literotica any vote less than a “5” is regarded as ‘troll-ism’ and prompts tears and whining from our coddled authors. (Sorry but you are wrong about the troll deal. A troll is someone who basically doesn't read the story and then votes a 1 or 2. A troll is someone who goes from one story to the next in the new list or down an authors list and votes 1's or 2's. Honest scores are not trolls. And the only one who seems to think authors are coddled is you. What is your deal with other authors?)
The red H, once an indicator of excellance is now meaningless, some 73.5% of Literotica stories get one. And in certain categories (Romance and Novels for example) over 97.65% of submitted stories get one! The 500th story on the Romance list today is rated 4.86! (Personally I don't believe either one of those percentages are anything but something you pulled out of your ass. Sorry.)
Re Chapter 1 scores versus scores on subsequent chapters. You ask what I base this on. Quite simply I base this on my own experience, on having investigated serial scores of other authors, common sense and finally official site statistics that were furnished to me. (Furnished to you by who?)
Mathmatical analysis of story scores that I’ve been made privy to by the sites accountants indicate the following: The score for a multi chapter Literotica story improves by an average of 0.14 basis points between its first chapter and its fourth. Even larger differences were noted between a first chapter and a tenth chapter. Hence having a chapter 4 or 5 or 6 on a top rated list without reference to its earlier scores is foolish. (Sites accountants? What site accountants?)
Re your comment: Someone must like them, they are on the top list after all. You are assuming that all readers on this site prefer incest… No, perhaps you misread me, I didn’t single out one category, instead I pointed out that not one of the top seven most popular catagories is represented (Incest, BDSM, Mature, Loving Wives, Non-Consent, Group, Erotic Couples). (Sorry I left the s off list. I was referring to all the top lists. Those may be popular categories to you but they are not high scoring categories by vote so they aren't on the top list. Each of those categories have their own sets of trolls that make sure.)
Re your comment:…Exactly what is the Typical Lit reader and how did you come up with this demographic? I guess I came up with it the same way you came up with your: The majority of readers are looking for stroke material. Period
I do appreciate your last comment. I agree with it and it is exactly what we plan on doing. Post the list, update it but it's not the do all, end all, list of best stories. It's a list of stories with over 1000 votes. Period. (So leave the BS out and post the list. By the way, it's only good manners to take someone off if they so request.)
First may I say...I agree with Cloudy, boo fucking who.scouries said:I’m sorry but I’m also going to have to ask you to stop posting on this thread. Either way, your presence here simply detracts from the goal of the thread. It also upsets Gabby.
