Horace Miner - Body Ritual among the Nacirema

:D

Napoleon Chagnon, Yanomano: The Fierce People.

(People wondered if the Yanomano were really as fierce as he claimed. When he went to give a paper at Cambridge he annoyed everyone so much that they wanted to kill him too!)

Ebene

(He presented himself, even in academic garb, as a Yanomamo warrior, strutting, turning slightly sideways, and thrusting his chest out in a subtly challenging manner. I think he enjoyed the annoyance that it generated from other Anthropologists who, after Edward T. Hall's work in the fifties, should have understood the relativity of "body language." If you've seen him give a talk, watch one of the Yanomamo films -"The Ax Fight" is good for this- and remember his gestures while you watch.)
