The Authors' Hangout Summer Lovin' Contest 2010 Support Thread

I write a story in keeping with spirit and theme, think I'm doing okay, don't care if I win, then because of a comment I made to lit10 he/she erupts.

Now I know why I have stopped bothering.

I don't need nasty feedbacks. Fuck it!

Hey, Asylum! when did I erupt? I told you you where right. I am confused. I had no problem with your comments. What nasty feedback?
please PM me as I am totally confused here

Sorry Sweetheart, Still won't come up for me. (story, that is!:))
DG
Teehee, DG.:D Parenthisis are a wonderful thing (|). Thanks for adding those words. I was going to start to feel bad for you, but now I understand.

Well, litfan10 and I have conversed via PM since. All worked out, I think.

Don't need all this drama in my life right now. Raccoons are enough, lol. Thanks for those who have contributed to that EF thread.

May ask Laurel to pull the story, actually already have. We'll see what she says/suggests. Now I am reminded why I shy away from contests.

Yah, I lost 12 off Ride for a gain of .31, and 3 off Queen for a gain of .25

The score on Ride is higher than it was when I first looked. It had a 4.0 with 4 votes on 153 views then *laugh*

i'd love to have a laurel's eye view of all the stats. ;)

i take it there's been sweep? i lost 20 votes ... but jumped considerably on score.

;)

I'll say there was a sweep. Garden Party went from 3.94 to 4.47 going from 18 votes to 15 which seems a little weird - three votes having that much impact unless I lost more but gained some high votes during the night.

Sadly however, it was brought to my attention quite correctly that my little mystery has absolutely nothing to do with summer other than the word in the title, (when it was an icicle murder weapon I went on and on about the sun and the heat but when I switched murder weapons all those references went out and I only replaced them with specific summer flowers which I never identified as such. Crap!) so I have asked it to be withdrawn from the contest or I will turn the votes off until the contest is over in order to be fair.

Good luck to all those in as your stories are all great!

If there's any bombing me to increase someone else's standings, then there's even more time wasting than usual going on. I could have a score of 5.0 and still be dead last, because I'm not eligible to win again until Winter Holiday :p

I'm still working on my LST3K, have another one that will go in at some point from my third pen name, and one that's certain to cause some -- shall we say interesting -- reactions from the peanut-brain gallery when it gets through the editing process

One other is possible, but I have a lot on my plate with my regular stories that I'm trying to get some work done on. It will all depend upon whether that one congeals and starts screaming loud enough that I can't ignore it. Right now, it's pretty vaporous.

Could have been a sweep, my score went up a few points but I have no idea how many and if I lost votes. Haven't been keeping track like I usually do. Latest totals is:

4.35 232 15616 Public Comments: 16
Votes have went up since my last posting but thought I was up in the 240's or 260's. I'll watch it closer.

well done litfan!

A.I.R. Summer Lovin Erotic Story Contest

Lots more today!!!

Welcome contestants…

…I would also like to thank litfan for taking the initiative. Too many of the contest stories have nothing to do with the contest theme – they’ve just been put in the contest to jump the queue and/or garner more attention. The QUEEN clearly doesn’t have time to monitor entries so theme related issues are up to the integrity of the individual authors involved. So the action promised by litfan is an example that so many others should learn from. WELL DONE!! But please, don't pull a moonie and leave it in the contest with the voting off - get it right out of the way of the real entries. Its not right to clog up the page and take attention away from legitimate contenders.

This seems strange. I submitted one story yesterday morning and another last night. The first one is still pending and the second has been approved. When I say "approved" I mean accepted by Lit. It has not been approved by readers, having received 13 votes and having a score of 3.15.

I posted a non contest story on Monday. Was wondering how long it would take it to post. Came out today. Not bad 3 days for a non contest story. It was a loving wife story. Already getting some of the readers aggravated. I have a habit of stiring the pot.
Not much change in my summer contest story.

I think you might need to download the latest version of RealPlayer or something. PM me your email again and I will send it to you after I upload it to my file service.

Yeah, there appears to have been something like that. I lost 15 votes overnight but my score went up a lot! Wow.

erm ... why is Midnight Anal listed above? it has nothing to do with any contest of any kind.

Consider the source, geronimo. The idiot is still posting rejection notices on its other thread about stories I haven't even written, and accusing me of being an alt of someone else. Isn't that funny? An alt accusing someone else of being an alt. Best to just ignore it on this thread.

By the way, thanks for the comment and (I hope) the vote. I keep getting the same feedback about the part where they get the phone call. I knew I should've elaborated on that a bit more. Oh well.

Good news is the sweeps took away a few lower votes. I "rocketed" up to a 4.12 from a straight 4.0 this morning. LOL.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't think you should withdraw your entry. Could a garden party in the nude really be pulled off in winter? Are there bees and flowers in winter? Would anyone even have a garden party in winter?

When I was helping you edit, if I would've thought it didn't belong in the contest, I would've told you. I think your story is more summer themed than mine is.

I've read other stories in past contests that really didn't have anything to do with the theme of the contest, but they remained and had high votes.

As I said, I can't speak for others, but please don't withdraw your story. I don't really think it's necessary.

Oh and I just read the feedback portal and I have to agree with the person who commented on "Pakistani Family Ch. 01." How the hell did it end up in the contest?

That’s where you’re wrong chief. My guess is you don’t understand how the A.I.R. runs their contests.

All stories submitted to LITEROTICA during the contest period (with the exception of second or later chapters of previously entered stories) automatically are entered into the A.I.R. contest that is running concurrently with the LITEROTICA one.

A.I.R. doesn’t play favourites or discriminate. No cliques are going to decide our winners!

Of course they are then checked (after publication) to make sure they haven’t broken any A.I.R. rule. If they have they will be REJECTED.

I find it hard to believe there would have been a general sweep so early in the contest. I'm pretty sure I haven't had any troll bombs swept away. The story I have entered so far is hanging out just over 3.00, with abut thirty votes.

I wouldn't withdraw "Garden Party" either. If it's about a garden party, that's enough to make it a summer story, unless it is set in the tropics or the Southern Hemisphere.

ETA: These are the rules for the current contest:

Summer Lovin'
themes: warm weather, summer activities, bikinis, etc.
starts: August 24
closes: September 9
winners announced: September 16

I agree! Do not withdraw! I think it is perfectly relevant and an awesome story.

I'm with the concensus of those dwelling in this plane of reality. Don't withdraw it or turn off the voting.

Why would anyone want to withdraw their story. We write because we supposedly enjoy it. The contest puts the story out there for an extra couple of weeks. It helps build your name recognition and followers of your stories.

A couple of weeks from now the contest will be over and soon forgotten, but your story will be around for a long time for others to read. If you don't like negative comments than shut comment off.

Papatoad one of my favorite authors and friend never leaves comments on. He writes for the fun of writing and can care less what others think of his stories.
