We humans shall soon have our electronic communications devices implanted in our bodies with electro-neural linkages. We will be able to record what we see, hear, and feel, all the signals coursing through our nervous systems, by merely blinking, or flicking a mental switch. Then, losing your camera will require eyeball out-gouging. Yikes. Keep that Instamatic handy.

It has the advantage that it does not require batteries.

Not this human.
Chip Delaney wrote of futures where the vast majority have implanted sockets for plug-in cables to control light or heavy equipment, from micro-waldos to comm networks to starships. Some rogue populations (gypsies, anarchists, cultists) refused the sockets -- and were thus excluded from civilized society. I suspect a similar future will be upon us within a generation or two. Those without linkage will be Left Behind, like those now without access to wired or wireless commo.

Or we could just put up a fence and blow the rest of the world off.

That's not necessary. The rest of the world will ignore the Left-Behinds -- unless they get bothersome, like by living in the path of The Next Big Development. And fences can be climbed-over, tunneled-under, or broken-through. (At least the fences around our place keep out stray dogs.)

But staying cut-off is tough. Subsistence living is tough. The future lasts a long time. Is it moral to condemn your offspring to live in poverty and isolation?

I recall various Chip Delaney stories, his explorations of interactions of the connected and unconnected. The answers are never easy.
