White man/black woman is about the only porn I can be bothered to watch.

Good post.So what's the alternative Hussar? Ban all images showing interracial sex?! That solution is clearly missing the point: racism exists in society at every level, in every nasty little insecure mind, poisoned by its upbringing. The porn industry isn't corrupting people, it's normalising the situation like "Wow, black people have sex with white people - so what?" The crime of racism certainly didn't start with images of pornography and it's wrong to point an accusing finger at the images themselves.
All the same I'd agree that the porn industry is still rife with out-dated language, but if they were being overtly racist there are laws to deal with it.

Dammit - that's exactly what I wish I'd said!!There are plenty of people out there who find the entire porn industry offensive precisely because they believe it objectifies women, perpetuates certain myths and encourages deviant behavior.
But these opinions don't necessarily make those who watch and enjoy it, misogynists, deviants or, in the case of interracial porn, racists.

No, and I think anyone who supports it is a racist.
Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of American race relations would know why the black man/white woman genre reflects Jim Crow concepts of black man being sexual deviants. There is also a whole element of black man as animal, lesser, slave, et cetera, inherent in it.
It's extremely offensive.

Good post.
It's kind of a Catch-22. If the producers make interracial porn, then it's dredging up racial stereotypes or negative connotations supposedly. But if producers stopped making interracial porn then they'd be accused of racism, keeping blacks and whites apart, holding back black porn actors etc.
Damned if you do damned if you don't.
It's not actually a Catch-22 at all.
Porn producers could begin to make interracial porn that didn't deliberately play into centuries-old racial tropes. They could make movies that featured people whose race was only incidental to the scene and not a selling point, but they deliberately choose to exploit racial baggage. There's a world of difference between a movie where the actors happen to be of different races, and one that's "BIG BLACK BULL USES HIS BBC TO IMPALE WHITE SLUT."
Look, people get off to all kinds of complicated things, and policing that is a fool's errand, but let's not pretend that it's not an accident. Plus, these sorts of things tend to bleed into people's non-porn life (as so many things do) -- I don't really want my partners to be pornographically racist to me in bed.
Hmmm. OK, I don't want to sound sheltered here, as far as porn goes I tend to read magazines. (retro I guess) When I see interracial porn it's usually just a white guy screwing a black chick or a black guy screwing a white chick in a magazine layout. No real plot or back story. It's not actually a Catch-22 at all.

Wow...a lot of anger and politics on a thread about people fucking. I guess this is Lit in a nutshell.
