I'm not sorry about it at all! I loved her post.
All this shit, however, with everyone fighting, sucks ass.
I love you guys, I really do.

My boobs are in my profile for a time. Cheer up! Tit's alright.

Your boobs are lovely. :rose: The perfect safe space.

In the midst of all this, these make me happy!:eek:

Definitely time for the camp out.

*whispers*
I've seen those boobs nekkid

You guys. Nothing primes my laser semen (pew! pew!) quite like a thread like this. So for that, I thank you.

I keep re-reading fire_breeze's post trying to see what I missed. It just doesn't read as offensive or rude or condescending to me. And if that statement makes anyone want to criticize (or criticise, toodle pip!) my reading comprehension levels, ok. I'll find a way to survive by playing with my laser semen (pew! pew!).

I just find myself wondering: even if she had stormed in like an almighty she-bitch and totally ripped everyone to shreds... so what? If a random post by an internet stranger is enough to violate your honor and get you worked up, I think you might be doing the internet wrong. At least the part of the internet that allows posts about laser semen (pew! pew!) right next to posts about what color face paint they used at Ye Olde Celtic Carnival. And I'm not saying that to pick on anyone here. I just think fuck, if that's all it takes to ruin your day, how exhausting is your actual life? Let's focus rather on the things we can all agree on - namely, that Stonehenge and Rod Stewart's entire discography were built by aliens. [citation pending] And you know what they used for adhesive? You guessed it - LASER SEMEN! (pew! pew!)

This is a fucking porn board on the internet, not the New England Journal of Butthurt. Can everyone just relax for a hot minute and enjoy the picture of Farawyn's chest in her profile?

Oh, and Farawyn: was that pic pre-cuking or post-cuking?

I think this wins the internet today. And I'm not apologizing for that. All this arguing has exhausted me. Here and on other threads today. :(

MWY
So glad to see you back.
While Stag went a bit off the deep end on his post perhaps, I suspect he was coming a bit to the defense of NoeMasks after a bunch of posts kinda pissed on his parade. And I would note that he was successful in helping NoeMasks feel not so alone in this thread. Perhaps this is an example of insider outsider behavior? Idk?

In any case...I would also like to say that Fire breeze is a well respected Litster and I would be loath to cast aspersions lightly on her contributions. She is not a regular on this board, but I imagine she is watching this thread. I would guess that a number of us have valuable things to add to the topics of history, mythology, science and health technology. I would also note that experts of good will disagree on many of these topics.

That's all I got.
:rose:

And I thinkbyou got it right.
The serious factor needle went way past MAX!

So if I saw that 3+5 = 9 and someone else says "No, 3+5 = 8", does that mean they're attacking me?

Does it matter if the one who corrected me is male or female, D or s?

Can (my friends and) I call the person names? Does it depend if I'm having a bad day?

Someone said this thread wasn't up to GB standards. I agree. At least in the GB, people don't get their panties in a twist over literally nothing.

What panties?

Which is exactly my point. If you're going to be rude enough to step into a conversation and contradict everything someone else just asserted,

YMMV and apparently does, but I don't accept that it is "rude" to contradict statements that aren't true. There certainly are rude ways to do it, but I don't see any of them in FB's post.

"oh but that's so difficult," is not an excuse, precisely because those who know are so outnumbered, and in no way should I be expected to believe someone is in possession of truth just on their say so, particularly when they are being so rude in their attempt to define it.

I don't believe FB "just on her say-so". But I've seen her around on the forums, enough to get an impression of somebody who knows what she's talking about and who's not prone to leaping into random threads without good reason. I've also spent enough time around researchers to know the style.

Certainly none of that is at the same level as proof as "provided rigorous citations" but it's enough for me to take her seriously when she says something. If I wanted stronger evidence, I'd take the information she did post as a starting point for researching things myself... or I'd ask for her consulting rates and decide whether I wanted to pay for her time.

Research is a professional skill. It takes time (and usually money) to learn and more time to apply. Sometimes professionals choose to volunteer their skills for free, but that doesn't mean anybody gets to demand more than what they offer.

If a dentist tells you "you have a crack in your tooth, you should get it fixed" you wouldn't expect them to do the repair for free just for the satisfaction of proving their point. So don't expect it of a historian.
