I read this earlier today

“And last, the loser shaves her pubic hair completely off,” Beth said. Beth had insisted on this. Earlier in the year she and Ann made a bet which Beth had lost and the payoff was a completely bald pubic area. Her boyfriend at the time loved it and she ended up keeping herself shaved for about six weeks. She really wanted payback on this. She hated having her hair down there shaved. It made her feel like a little girl and it itched terribly when it started to grow back. Her boyfriend loved the look, though and insisted she keep it that way. She ended up dumping the guy and growing her bush back but she still wanted Ann to experience the embarrassment she felt over that bet. She also wanted her to experience the itchiness of having the hair grow back.

This is a part out of a story called The Bet, written by Les. It was clearly written by a very old person, because I am 26 right now and I have never in my life seen a woman that was not completely shaved down there, apart from woman in porn.

A woman would be more ashamed to be seen with pubic hair then without, even I as a man shave myself down there since I am 17

I keep reading crap like that in stories, idk if it's the american culture or all those stories are written by people over the age of 60.

I mean is this really a thing in your culture? Are you really ashamed to have no pubic hair? Because here in Germany everybody tries to get rid off it asap.

I don't think there's a single American view. I'm a guy (and older) and there's no way I'd shave my pubic region for anyone, but I like the shaved look on women. Some fetishize hair or the lack of it.

To me it's somewhat bizarre you have a country that's uniformly opposed to pubic hair. What kind of social conditioning does it take to get everyone's opinions in lockstep like that?

I mean, people are allowed to be humiliated by stuff. She didn't willingly shave herself, it was punishment. There's a different in wearing a swimsuit to the beach and being forced to wear one when you don't want to as a punishment.

America is trending back to a full bush, but clean down below, if you know what I mean. Studies have shown STDs can be passed more easily with bald pubes, plus it's itchy in the summer, and it's a lot of work to keep up.

A recent study at two American universities found 38% of respondents stayed hair-free. Perhaps it is different in Germany. Personally, I really like bald pubes on women, and I'm an old fart.

I spend a lot of time at nude beaches, and completely bare pussies are certainly the vast majority. Completely shaved men are not the majority, but they are not rare, either.

Of course, it could be that people who go to nude beaches are not representative of the general population.

You've never seen a woman not completely shaved down there? Interesting.

Personally, I find the condition of pubic baldness painful, itchy, expensive, and just plain stupid. It's not as if women already don't have enough to worry about without adding shaving/waxing pubic hair to the mix. I tried this for a few months to please a former lover. He shaved his pubic area which to me was strange. (He was doing this before I knew him). And he was in his 50s. Before long, he wanted me to do other things which I had no problem saying no to. Anyway, I think it's become more of the norm here, but everyone has their personal preferences. Besides, I wouldn't read a Lit story as anything other than fiction. :)

I'm not an author, but I couldn't help myself:
can't believe there's a thread in here where people debate this issue Lol!!
And nice to learn something new about the german culture, besides Schiller and Goethe ;)

I can take it or leave it. Hair on a woman's vulva makes no difference to me. I grew up in the 50's and 60's when the only women who shaved were shameless hussies. ;)

I can say though, a little hair is preferred over an out of control bush. And underarm hair will make me run for the hills faster than a speeding bullet. I can say the same for legs. I shiver at the thought.

Nude, it's okay and keeps you from swallowing pubic hair during...well you get the point, but for aesthetics, a little fuzz is quite pleasing.

Some people are shy about such things. It isn't the fact that they shaved but more who knows and who gets to watch them do it to make sure it is done. I don't think the age of the writer has anything to do with it. More the age and shyness of the character.

Not to mention, different cultures, even different areas have different views on such things. I know of several different groups right here in my area.

Some of us do love big bushes, and always have!

You're going to love my contest story then. :D

As a cyclist, trim short and tidy, not shave.

I haven't shaved for years. Bristles are a PITA/C. So last century.

Beauty is a naked woman. All preferences go out the window as soon as the last garment is removed.

You recognise that the story is Fiction, don't you ?

My late wife hated being bald, but liked a gently covering, suitably trimmed.

Right on.

I think it depends heavily on the age bracket. I'm from Germany too, and my lady love and I shave when the fancy takes us but make no big fuzz out of having hair downstairs. We don't feel like we HAVE to go bald, we do it when we feel like it.

So please be careful with blanket statements.

An author has every right to put words into his character's mouths. You are free to disagree to any and all of it.

.......He shaved his pubic area which to me was strange. (He was doing this before I knew him). And he was in his 50s.......

A man shaving his pubic hair completely off will gain an extra inch or so of "apparent" dick length. So you could think of it as a form of marketing.

If the bush is trimmed away at the base of the shaft, the same result is achieved. With a full bush, the last inch or so (base of the shaft) is hidden, making the dick look that much shorter.

For some reason, "bald" men remind me of someone in a hospital recuperating from an operation, or someone going through chemo therapy. Bald women, on the other hand, remind me of nasty, uninhibited sex, with female ejaculation and strangers watching. A "tufted" woman reminds me of someone you'd try to marry. A buzzcut woman reminds me of strippers and porn sluts. Perception is a strange thing, isn't it?

30 or so years of Bob Guccione can't be all wrong, either.

Taste is taste, everyone's got their own, that's why we're individuals. Except those that follow the tribe, that is....

Funny thing is, you throw away the razor, and look what happens - yep, that's right, hair is the natural state of affairs. A strange observation to make in the first place, I thought.

Personally I love to seea shaved pussy. In the U.S. it's my belief that our Puritanical beginnings still influence our society. We view nude selfies as porn. We feel everyone should be fully clothed. Our society looks at girls/women who wear string bikinis as tramps or hussies. Heaven forbid if a girl/woman gets a tattoo because if she does then it's labelled as a tramp stamp.

I never thought about this until I read stories on Lit. It never would have occurred to me to shave my pubic area. I sort of tried it, at least keeping the hair shorter, but quite honestly, it's was more effort than I wanted to spend. It's not a simple procedure, and I have better things to do with my time. So I'm with you, LadyVer.

'Everybody' has taken a shower where water falls on your head. It's not a big deal. You step into a shower, water drips on you and it isn't bad.

Take any person, tie them up, and have water dripped on their head and it becomes torture.

What you are willing to do, and having something done to you, regardless of what you normally do, are two different things.

As to what ya'll do in Germany and what is done here in the states is two totally different things. We are a little more repressed here, but if you want to go further, look at Japan. I can't stand all the black lines they draw over a woman's pussy because pubic hair is taboo to look at. At east I think that's what is taboo. Maybe it's the whole pussy is taboo. Regardless, it's more repressive.

It may be a generational thing, but it might be just an individual thing. My mom used to get upset if you walked around in your 'bare' feet. "You are naked!" she would exclaim. I know plenty of people from her era that didn't have similar feelings.

If you go to England or France, I'm told, it's not uncommon for women to have unshaven armpits or legs, which is quite the reverse here.

I remember 20 years ago, a woman looked at me and commented on how "furry" my legs were. I had a normal amount of leg hair. She was a much older American woman.

25 years ago, I remember a visiting European porn star commenting about how prissy American female porn stars were about having anal sex. "You act like it's a big thing, if we are told to do it in a video, then we do it. It's common." she more or less said, though I think she might have been talking about women in general and not porn stars alone.

In other words, what is repressive to an individual or a whole culture can be totally different in another.

you should start an organization, to catch up with the rest of the world.
Women's rights! "Let us shave our pussies!"

As a UK resident, that wouldn't be unusual.

PS. I live across the road from the beach. I see a lot of hair down there...

I prefer my wife to at least shave around her labia, but that's just so I don't get short and curlies in my mouth. She prefers to leave it au natural and so we compromise and don't shave, but do trim. But shame has nothing to it, just convenience, and she doesn't wear a bikini.

As for shaving myself, I never would have thought about it, until I had major surgery many years ago and came out of it shaved from eyebrows to toes. I liked the feel and look of no hair in my pubic area, and when it started itching as it grew it, I shaved it again and kept it that way for about six months, but it just was too much of a hassle so I let it grow. I never felt embarrassed or shameful about it, it was just a choice. But then my wife and doctor were the only ones who saw it.
