Those "little brown people" are about the same size as the troops and immigration agents, some of whom are also brown. From what I have read, the invaders are mostly young men.

oh, well then! if they're young men, go on and shoot them.

White House gives Mattis expanded powers for U.S. troops on border

U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Wednesday that he had been granted authority to allow troops on the Mexican border greater powers to help protect...

Yes, shoot the little kids. Shoot their mothers. How dare they threaten the peace loving white people by applying for asylum. What, do they really think the U.S. was founded by immigrants or something?

I remember my grandparents stories about how they were nervous coming to America and going through Ellis Island. They made a great life here and entered the right way.

I believe anyone who chooses to enter our country go through the processes required and not by sneaking in.

The Caravan is sneaking in, is it? I wonder how anyone found out about it.

Applying for asylum IS going through the required processes.

Are you saying it doesn't happen ? Should the caravan just be allowed to enter no questions asked ?

If allowed to enter where will they stay and how will they pay for it ?

How about those who climb in or over a fence ? Let them stay ?

No, but devise better, more humane laws (and less-expensive procedures) for dealing with it, something the Republicans who have controlled Congress for years, haven't done. They've shown they don't want to improve the issue. They want to use it to lie about who is responsible for the mess and failure to devise better immigration laws and procedures.

Give Mexico an allowance to run a camp on their side of the border, register seekers there and when their number comes up, escort them over the border for the hearing and if allowed, they go free here and if denied, get escorted back to Mexico.

I have complete confidence that the Mexican government would operate the camps in a humane manner that nobody would have an issue with.

From what I've read, most of the people in the caravan are from Central America, especially Honduras, rather than Mexico. And Mexico doesn't want them either. It is possible these camps would be run in a humane manner, but I think it more likely the corrupt officials would steal the money and let the immigrants starve.

As the (de-facto) father and grandfather of recent immigrants, I have sympathy for the members of the caravan and anybody else who just wants a better life, but there are right ways and wrong ways to try to get it. :(

Of course the camps would be death traps. And of course Mexico doesn't want them all that much.

There isn't a good solution.

I suppose we could go start a war down there to get rid of the causes for people wanting to leave, but that isn't our place.

Somehow I don't think the UN will give a shit. Which is a shame because if there is an entity with a responsibility to do so it would be the UN.

So we have a problem whose solutions are a) crap or b) shit. Since there's nothing that we can do that has a happy ending then we should do nothing. Keep them out until there is a solution that works.

This maybe should have been mentioned to the Republican-controlled Congress during the several years they've been in control. It's better than what is being done, but it evades the point I made. The Republicans could have done something but they didn't because it has served them not to do anything and to evade blame for what they didn't do.

Try dancing around that FACT all you want.

Of course, the Democrats have had the majority in about 3/4 of the Congressional sessions in the past century (House). So one could wonder how not addressing illegal immigration served the Democratic party, too...

So nobody liked the war idea?

We could install a sympathetic government, rebuild their infrastructure and make Central America a vacation Paradise!

Then they'd need walls of their own to keep out the South Americans LOL

We are a nation of immigrants. The issue hasn't become a "problem" (that the brown people will get into a majority) until recently. Who has controlled the Congress in the last decade? Piss poor attempt to deflect, Gunther.

You think the immigrant issue was caused by Congress and not the purposes of the people coming to this country?

Laughable.

Try again, but first, go find some of these communities, get to know the people, establish some friendships and see for yourself why they're coming here and just how well they're "integrating" with our society. I have and they are not. Enough of them are simply trying to recreate home, here to make it a problem. They left those places for a reason.
