bug off !!!

a veritable infestation :D

liked pensive's piece a few posts above - shades of poe mixed with the night before xmas :D

Thnx butters. It's hard to parody poe in a traffic jam in baton rouge, but i like a challenge.

Now who says why in your buggy logic
words slurred like a Central Park alchoholic
crawling north like a cockroach, Who knew?
Hello Park Avenue; eat a bug

I am a buccaneer bug
preying on Spanish cargo,
my sneaky movement luring smug
solid adagio largo,

the pirates use me as a spy
before offensive action,
I watch their victims as they die,
immersed in satisfaction,

and then we all have party time
with rum and blood and goodies,
the god of bugs confirms our crime
and sets for us new duties.

Leeches are hermaphroditic
worms who like to bite us.
Still, one might prefer the bite
to osteoarthritis.

Four out of five alcoholics prefer Tompkins Square. This is ironic as it is also home to the Temperance Fountain (installed during prohibition, I believe). Central Park is more families and tourists. At the Southern end, it smells like horse manure.

I am a tourist bug,
so when they come for sun,
I bite them as they shag,
and I destroy their fun.

ODE TO A HOUSEFLY, by Percy Dovetails
Philosophical Ruminations on a Beastie in the Booze

Oh, hail to thee, tiny insect so small,
Swimming around in my bourbon highball.
Back-stroking, breast-stroking, movement of wing,
Now up on the ice cube, poor cold little thing.

If you stay there too long, you'll find with remorse,
Your ankles will numb and your buzz will get hoarse.
Catching cold is unpleasant for all little flies,
Bloodshot is gruesome for multiprism eyes.

Some people hate flies, take my old Cousin Sam,
He gets in a snit when you sit in his jam.
I've seen sister Sally turn red as a beet
When you walk on her nose with your six sticky feet.

When you walk on the ceiling, your brow seems to frown,
Does blood go to your head, when you stand upside down?
My optometrist friend, a dear boy named Rex,
Makes bifocals for flies - he calls them fly specs.

Now you're coughing because you are so full of trouble,
Or is it the bourbon that's making you bubble?
You should get off the ice, the temperature's minus,
You'll get frost in your navel and a wee touch of sinus.
