Congratulations to President Obama!

Stella welcomed me also

She was one of the first that I talked to here and she made me feel welcomed. While I was unsure of her gender I could see her smarts and her heart for the fight. Another of the older ladies that welcomed me was Cloudy. I guess I owe both of them a thank you.

But now back to the police searches, I am against them but powerless to stop them.
case closed.

I stand corrected

Dealing with FL law:

1. 1982 - stopped as I was entering the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg. Why? Because I looked "Hispanic" and there was an APB out for someone "darkskinned." One of the 3 officers that stopped me said I fit the description to a T, the other 2 disagreed. When I showed my i.d. they all apologized and left me alone.

2. Two days later in Tampa. I was stopped, again, for "walking while looking Hispanic." This time, a state trooper walked into the scene, apologized and told me to have a good day in Busch Gardens

Dealing with law:

2001 - standing outside and Barnes and Noble, waiting for my wife and her sister to pick me up, a cop car pulled up and asked me what I was doing. After I put down my book and told them I was waiting for my wife and sister-in-law, they rolled away. I guess I looked dangerous, standing, reading.

I had no ideal that you had a record. For a paranoid old dope smoking hippy like myself it would seem that you were checked out by cops three times when you shouldn't have been. In each case they saw that they were wrong and let you go.

If you want to see what they look like when they have the smell of blood. Give them a reason to step on your rights and then remind them that they need a warrant.

Never said you were a smoking, just said you were paranoid.

Take it anyway you want it

It could be a confession or a self portrait. But it is pretty much who I am.

I have lived my life selling and using drugs. I don't think of it as being paranoid. I think of it as being careful. Most of the time when I get pulled over, I am holding. So what you call being paranoid is just everyday living for me.

We are both just joking around here but in the real world if they want to search, they will search.

Then, anytime the police pull you over, you have a reason to worry about police searches. Common sense tells you to STOP doing what you're doing.

I am against illegal searches, but some searches are justified, even without a warrant. For example, if an Amber alert is out, and includes a license number and the cops see that car on the highway, they have a right to stop it. If they do, and hear noises coming from inside the trunk, not looking inside the trunk, whether they have a warrant or not, would be an extreme dereliction of duty.

That's an extreme example, but there are other times when a search is justified.

you should go back a few post.

We were talking about roadside searches and RJthoughts said that the police had to ask. Than he said that if the person knew their rights that the police wouldn't search without a warrant.

Forget about amber alerts and go to a random traffic stop. Does that cop have a right to search your car?

common sense might tell me that

But love of life keeps me on the road I'm on. I've been high for forty five years, see no need to stop now.

You're quickly building up to reasons you shouldn't even be on the road, let alone worrying about the police finding what they should find when you're stopped.

Pilor I am a good driver

I have driven my shop truck all over the northeast. before that I was a traveling salesman and drove all over the south. I would guess that I have averaged fifty thousand miles a year since the the late sixties.

Sorry, Mikey, there's no way I'd condone driving while high on drugs. You've got me rooting for the Florida police now.

Now, now, let's not get negative.

High for that long, wow. I'm guessing you have no children, or you'd have grown up by now.

Well if you think that you are wrong. When I measure my life, I don't use the same yardstick as you do when you measure yours. My values aren't the same as yours, but that does not make me less mature. I am grown up, I just don't take some things as seriously as you do. Like drug laws, I like being high. I can do my job while I'm high, indeed I think that I am more creative when I'm high.

Maybe it is like those people who take valium, they get used to it and they can drive and work okay on it.

In the end it does not matter. At the mid sixty mark in life, I ain't going to get confused in what I want out of life. After living my chosen lifestyle for almost half a century, I find that I am still happy with my choice.

I'm in technology, I am a nerd. Take life seriously, please. The only time I had to was when I was the stay-at-home parent.

I NEVER EVER understood the reasonings why people get high. To relax? Sorry, learn meditation, it's cheaper and easier on the body. Because it stimulates your brain? Sorry, reading a book has the same effect.

Laziness, pure and simple.

Dude, it's 2012, not 1967!!!

Not thinking about you (and you apparently are only thinking about you, Mikey). I'm thinking about the other people on the road and the pedestrians (and you apparently aren't).

Go, Florida police!

I have a near perfect driving record

Not thinking about you (and you apparently are only thinking about you, Mikey). I'm thinking about the other people on the road and the pedestrians (and you apparently aren't).

Go, Florida police!

No tickets, no accidents for the last twenty years. I ain't no threat to anyone.

I'm not sure about Lazy, but I've leaned towards weak. If you need it to "get by" then you have a problem coping with life.

It amazes me that this country is in an all out anti smoking campaign while at the same time legalizing a drug that alters your perceptions.

But I already know the argument coming against that is why is alcohol legal? And for that I have no answer.

I think we should all just do what we feel like and descend into the final days of the Roman Empire.

There is none so blind

Like you said, you will never understand why I get high. But I like nothing better than getting high and reading a good book.

And yet, you seem to have become the poster child of letting drugs addle your brain.

Cheerin' for you here, Florida police! Let's get this sucker off the road.

I would buy the "people who use chemicals are lazy" argument better, LC, if I hadn't seen you apologise after posting drunk-- or refusing to apologise-- so many times.

Mikey, this is one of those arguments that isn't worth getting into, and is beside the point anyway-- since the topic was illegal searches, performed on thoroughly intimidated citizens -- who really don't want to challenge the big guy with the helmet and gun, no matter what the nice people tell them.

Difference is I'm drunk maybe once every couple of months. We're talking about people who can't get buy without a jay in their hands.

I work with two guys who go out and smoke it at the 10am break, then again at lunch, then again at 3pm break

Both of these guys operate heavy machinery, last year one of them sliced the tip of his finger off and while he was collecting comp actually tried to sue the company.

Cute.

Now tell me pot is not addictive(as many argue it is not) when there are tens of thousands of people who are that dependent on it.

If I don;t go to a dart or pool tournament I don;t drink. I don;t drink at work that's for damn sure and I don;t even drink hanging around the house.

an occasional buzz is fun, its not a crutch to get through the day and neither is the occasional joint. Its the people who need it every damn day of their lives that I brand unable to deal with reality.

Mikey, this is one of those arguments that isn't worth getting into,

Not worth getting into (besides the fact that he "got" into it all on his own)? Is this you showing again that, when it doesn't serve the purpose of your one or two issues, something like drugees roaming around high on the highway is something beneath you "getting into"? That you can just suspend all of your principles as long as you are "winning" on your single political issue? How convenient it must be to have such a simplistic take on life.

thanks for the advice stella

Okay you guys, you go your way and I'll go mine. I can point to a lifetime of doing no harm to anyone and feel pretty damn good about myself. I don't know about you guys though.

You guys write smut for a hobby just like I do. When I come inside to post on this porn site , you guys seem to always be there too. I have a hard time thinking that I am the only waste product here.

Be that as it may, There is nobody in this thread that I don't like. Al but l RJThoughts have helped me at one time or another. So I hate to see you cop this attitude towards me. The results of my outlawery has been harmless to everyone except possibly me.

You guys have a nice night.

Sorry, Mikey. Writing smut and driving while high are in entirely two different worlds.

Weakness has nothing to do with it

I quit smoking cigarettes because I could feel that they were hurting me. I had smoked two packs a day for almost twenty years. Booze makes you reckless, pot doesn't distort your driving abilities.

For the record I have done this for almost fifty years, and I am telling you that I am safe and my record backs me up. You are telling me that it is bad because the government tells you so. What true thing has the government ever told you about drugs?

But if your mind is made up, nothing that I say will change it.
