The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I try not to draw much attention to myself here in the bible belt either. I've survived existing as a bi male for almost 50 years now. Just keep my head down and don't do anything stupid.
With that said, when I lived in those countries, I lived in societies where homosexuality was accepted. So I had to live by their rules, and not intervene.
Anytime you are in a foreign country, they'll expect you to live by their rules. No matter how f'd up those rules are. There's a lot of American citizens sitting in foreign jails who've broken that country's laws.
