An ice storm battered parts of Texas on Monday, cutting off power to thousands of homes and leading to hundreds of traffic accidents and more than 1,500 airline flight cancellations.

The storm, packing high winds and freezing rain, coated highways with sheets of ice, and authorities advised commuters to stay off the roads. The cold was expected to last another day, keeping road surfaces slick.
Brrrr.

Check in Texans. Let us know that you're not freezing your boots off.

That was north Texas. Down here in south Texas it's just raining. It will be in the low 40's tomorrow. Right now it's 34f.

Oh and we do have heating systems down here.

When I lived in Atlanta there were at least three ice storms every winter. When Atlantian's here there is an ice storm coming they all rush out and clear the stores of water, toilet paper, milk, beer.

Ice storms shutdown the city for as long as the ice lasts.

Now in Chicago, we call ice storms Winter and go on about our business just like any other day of the year.
