It's a chilly early morning preseason practice test here in Spain. Nothing like the glamorous life of a pro race car driver. No one at the track except for the other teams, fingers so cold from the exposed cockpit that you can hardly feel them....the yachts of Monaco and parties of Abu Dhabi seem quite a way off now.
I pull our new formula car into the garage where I see the mechanics laughing and looking at their phones. "What's up boys?" I ask before the show me that you have just been signed to our team as another driver. Known for looks more than talent this move throws us all off and we get a good laugh out of how this will go.
As last year's runner up to the championship in only my third year we couldn't be further apart in how we are regarded. As I head back out on the track I wonder what you will be like to work with, after all, you will meet the team for the first time this afternoon......
Me: 5'10, 160lbs lean but muscular. Italian, tan, dark hair and eyes.
