The best female drummer on the planet is 14 years old...

I'm impressed. And she was only twelve in the first one.

Buddy Rich was a groundbreaker.

She's twirling her sticks through a lot of it too....lol

I think this girls better than Buddy. I mean pound for pound age wise she is but imagine her at 25. I mean I don't know how much better she can get.

She's got chops and can play. Is the any footage of her playing with a band? Solos are fun and all, but one gets hired to play in ensembles. Buddy had all the pyrotechnics, but could also swing like a motherfucker or play a ballad with brushes.

A bit flash .
The talent is there but does she have the ability to play in a band or orchestra .

Ah, Dame Evelyn. She is wonderful. An old teacher met her and didn't even know she was deaf. I saw her once, she's amazing.

See above. The good thing is that she's young and can get there. I always want to lock flashy player in a room with nothing but James Brown playing for a day or two.

Dude... Really?

I admit she's good, especially for her age. But she's not on the same planet as Buddy, or lots of other drummers.

You're comparing a 14 year old girl with older male players. The point is that she is only 14. Neil didn't even start playing drums till he was 14.

Neil is sixty something now.

Imagine the proficiency and stamina she could have in ten years.

Perhaps I misunderstood what you said. You seemed to say she was better than buddy....I don't know how good buddy was at 14, so that comparison is impossible I'd think.

She's not great.. but I agree with really good. I only watched the one video tho..

She plays with jazz bands etc and you can't play solos like that with out knowing the rudiments.

She's very well trained in the fundamentals and I imagine she has already been playing for ten years.

I honestly think she is at least as good. Age being irrelevant.

If you're saying she's as good now as buddy ever was, I say you're nuts and you didn't watch any of those videos cause they all blow her away.

To each his own, I reckon.

I've seen most of them already. Guys like Ed, Buddy and Neil will always be drum gods, but these new young players are really encouraging and fun to watch.

I don't want to get into an argument over whos a better drummer. A 50 year old man with 40 years experience or a tweenage girl who can barely reach the pedals.

I agree with that.. it's unfortunate than many really amazing musicians are lost in a sea of pop mediocrity. I've seen some incredible talent, bands that most people don't even know. I saw the legendary Sleepy Labeef for 5 bucks.. the human jukebox, knows over 5000 songs. 5 bucks.

It's better now than it used to be. Theres always been prodigies and players but only recently do they have a platform to show it off.

If you tube didn't exist, neither does Senri at least in my world.

Buddy played professionally for most of his life. I believe he was 2 when he made is stage debuy as "traps the drum wonder" as part of his parents vaudeville show.

Rudiments are building blocks. The scale for snare drummers. They are great for the hands and can be quite useful, but do not teach someone to be musical, or to even use them musically. Drum corps is proof of that. 85 people playing perfectly proficiently, while making pretty shapes on a football field...the whole time being completely devoid of musicality.

Can she play Cold Sweat and make people move? Can she make it swing having only a ride cymbal? Can she lock into a bass player to sound like one? Can a songwriter play her a new song and she can come up with a part that enhances the song, all while staying out of the way?

You tell me if she can. Dig the blind guitar player playing upside down.
