since October. . . .

I've been earning her trust since then and could finally get her close enough to pet her.

I finally caught her today, and took her to the vet. She was walking funny, and stank to high heaven. Poor little thing had a massive absess covering her entire back end under her tail, including internal infections, and every one's favorites, maggots. They did the best they could cleaning it all out, gave her antibiotics, and something to kill any remaining guests, and told me its touch and go in the next 48 hours. She may have too much scar tissue inside and if so, I will have to do the right thing and haver her put down.

She is currently residing in a big dog kennel with her brand new bed and water dish in my kitchen. We named her Hobbes. Any good energy anyone can spare in her direction would be greatly appreciated. She's a ferocious little thing, and pretty tough. Here's to hoping.

Oy! Here's hoping and praying Hobbes makes it. We had to have our kitty (also a rescue) put down mid-March and it damn near killed me, never mind the effect it had on the kids. :(

You're good folks, Saucy. Sending kitty-healing vibes your way!

You know what I mean! ;)

Thank you kindly, either way. ;)

Here's hoping little Hobbes makes a speedy recovery!
Me too.

We have had cats before, and my heart broke over each one. My daughter went to the vet with me and she said, "it's amazing how attached you can get to a cat who you have just been feeding outside." When the receptionist came out to call back another patient, she said "Jake?" and my daughter piped up with "from State Farm?" I don't know what I'd do without that kid. She cracks me up, right when I need it most.

Hobbes is much more lucid this morning (and still with us.) She quit looking at me like I'm Joseph Mengele, and wanted petted, and had a snack. So so far so good. Kitty healing vibes seem to be working. :rose:

Thanks for the Hobbes love everyone. She is doing pretty well.

She made a huge mess in her cage which means she is probably going to be ok. She is meowing whenever I come near her for pats and pets, scarfed down some chicken breast for supper, and is now purring and kneading her bed and her new stuffed bunny.

I knew she was a tough little beastie. The vet called to check on her this morning and said, she was guardedly optimistic and was just glad that she was still with us. I think maybe Hobbes used up a couple of her 9 lives.

Let's hope she spends the other 7 getting fat and sassy on my couch. :cattail:

Dear Saucy:

What's the latest with Hobbes?

Yesterday she was doing pretty well, but today she won't eat and is just lying around. Vet said to make sure she stays hydrated so going to try to tempt her with some milk later since she doesn't want to drink her water either. Poor little pumpkin. She's been lying on a blanket on my lap for the last 2 hours. Thanks for asking and to every one for all the well wishes for the furry little beast. :rose:

Here is the new lil love of my life:

Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely ladies of Lit. In honor of the occasion, pmann is sending you gifts.

Ask your vet about letting you give her IV fluids at home. It's not as scary as it sounds. The vet will give you an IV set up and show you how to use it. You insert the needle into the skin between kitty's shoulderblades and let the fluid run in as the vet prescribed. It actually goes into kitty's fat tissue, but the fluid absorbs into her system. It's the best way to keep them hydrated when they absolutely refuse food or water.

Good luck! I hope she feels better soon!

you know...there's only one kind of website i know of that asks you to confirm, pretty please, that you really do want to leave the site. porn sites.

so why does facebook do the same thing when i leave it? is that the comparison they really want people making?

no, i know: facebook sucks. in fact, odds are good i know this better than you do.

i just think it's funny/ronic.
