As Gallus stood to leave the table, Lorelei slowly began to eat. She choked down the tasteless mixture of the hash, knowing that if she didn't eat there might not be anything else for the rest of the day. Punishment for insubordination was starving.
She heard Gallus return, his body pausing next to her to ask if she would need help returning to her own room. She shook her head no, continuing to eat until she was finished. Pushing away from the table, she carefully picked up her bowl and spoon, walking to the basin to place her bowl inside to be cleaned. When she was finished, she left the hall and found her way back to her room, still so unsure of what had happened.
Everything felt...different. The energy of the place was wrong. Everyone was too upbeat. It was a strange contrast to the sounds of the rain and ice pounding on the roof and trickling into the hallway.
