I'm just going to throw this out there because it seems to be a staple of mother-son incest stories. PUHLEASE stop having your moms call theirs sons "sweetie"
Perhaps it's me but it seems to it is in every second fucking story and in some cases, incessantly throughout the tale. For God's sake, enough already.

That's called "your opinion" and you're free to have it. But don't be surprised if writers don't care and keep doing it anyway.

And now this post has backfired because I generally use "Honey" but now I'll toss sweetie into the mix. Thanks:D

What would you prefer she call him?

"My stallion"?

"Rocket man"?

As a matter of narrative it makes sense for mom to use a non-sexual term of endearment with her son, because it helps to demonstrate the taboo relationship between them, which makes the sexual behavior more exciting.

Baby Boy ticks the boxes big time.

I don't mind the use of sweetie personally, but I do think it's more realistic in an incest story when family members use special nicknames. I have one mom/son where the son's name is Nick and she calls him Nicky, a father/daughter where the daughter's name is (surprise) Alice and he calls her Lili or something in Irish Gaelic, and a bro/sis story where they frequently use each other's initials. Generic is fine, but when you're hitting a kink about forbidden intimacy, specific can take it up a sexy notch.

:D There went the coffee. I'm gonna have to hire a... well, I was gonna say 'maid', but I'm thinking 'a lady's gentleman'. Is there such a thing, I wonder? Personally, when I'm doing my 'baby boy'... I like the term 'sweetcheeks'. ;)

This brings up a debate about buzzwords. I've seen people say "why do they keep saying mother...his mother sucked him, his mother...' argument being you know they are mother and son so why keep using it?

The answer-okay, my answer-is kink. Reaffirming this is mom, dad, sis, brother doing these sexual acts is what gets the reader going. Of course they know who the people are, but suck my cock and suck my cock, mom are not the same to someone with that fetish.

Of course they can be overdone and beaten into the ground, but to never use them defeats the main sexual focal point of the story.

Look at another kink. Interracial. Okay, we've established the guy is black(because let's face it interracial on lit could just be changed to black man/white woman) but why is it his big black cock, she moaned over his black cock. the sight of his black cock sliding in to...why do we keep needing to hear it?

Cause its the kink.

What it comes down to is the old, but very true adage everything in moderation.

Sure thing babe.

And make sure the mom, at least once, after using Baby Boy once or twice in earlier situations, has the opportunity to smooth son’s hair (or cup the back of son’s neck with her palm), and sigh, “my beautiful Baby Boy.”

The incest fan will feel that one, alright.

unlike real life where my mother lovingly...smacked me in the back of the head and asked me what the hell was the matter with me.

I'm reminded of the scene from I Love You to Death where Kevin Kline's mom keeps smacking him upside the head (where he had brain surgery to remove a bullet) for making his wife try to kill him.

For me (that is, what I think I am capable of writing), incest is firmly in the fantasy category. I mean, all porn is fantasy, incest porn doubly so. Not because it doesn't happen in real life, but because of what I think triggering the kink typically entails.

I could be completely wrong though. I've only spelunk'd a dozen or so incest stories with kink cataloging in mind.

I've never written incest before. I've got a gonzo High Concept that I'd love feedback on that I posted to a Story Feedback thread. The only reply I have so far is Hypoxia calling me insane, which doesn't bode well.

Here's the crazy idea: http://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=89368994&postcount=49

Invasion of the mamasnatchers:D

Its a unique idea that's for sure.

My pet unwritten concept is "The Purge; Family Style" you can imagine the premise. One night a year....

Oh come on.... there is nothing sexier than a young man bending his mother over saying, “ I’ve always wanted to do a milf. Never thought it would be my own.” To which she replies, “Be gentle, Sweetie. Daddy took me for a ride last night and put me away wet.”

I shamelessly admit I have used something very close to the first line.

When I wrote, "That way lies madness," I meant it as a positive.

I'm trying to recall if I ever wrote a mom or aunty call sonny 'sweetie'. Before the incest, maybe, when they try to extract an innocent favor from innocent him. Later they're usually too busy fucking to bother with endearments.

Mom strokes his arm. "Go on, sweetie, go help your aunty."

Aunty strokes his arm. "That's it, my man! Now, into the shower."

He's fucking them both before long. I think he graduated from 'sweetie'.

I suppose, if you want to over-analyse, “sweetie” as a term of endearment turns up a lot in mom/son incest stories because it functions as a pet name for both a child and a partner. So does “honey”. So using those particular terms is part of the lead-in to blurring the lines between the parental and sexual relationship?

Or writers just have a limited vocabulary when not describing the sexy scenes. I dunno man, I don’t write this stuff...

It goes back to the 'buzzword' conversation, what's enough, too much, and really who gets to decide one way or another?

There are a lot of terms of endearment, but sometimes if you go for one more obscure it gives the reader that hiccup of 'who talks like that' so sometimes I think familiarity counts for something.

Context matters too.

"Honey, can you take out the trash for me?"

"Hey, mom I took out the trash"

"Thanks, sweetie"

Is one tone.

"Oh, honey, you feel so good inside me."

That's a totally different tone.

And to get back to the buzzword debate that last sentence works fine, and we know this is mom talking but if you go...

"Oh, honey, you feel so good in mommy's pussy."

Necessary, hell no, but you just popped the taboo readers rod big time.

Sweetie, sugar, honey, but not honey-child! Maybe not sweet-cheeks or sugar-tits, not at first. Baby and darlin' also fit as ambivalent endearments.

Yep, that's definitely how I see it. It's that bit of positive reinforcement to help nudge the reader along that dark and dangerous road of kink for kink's sake.

There's certainly some room for nuance. If a pair of sisters are going at it . . . If a pair of cousins are going at it . . . If a guy and his daughter are going at it . . . The reader is going to get a charge every time he (or she) gets another nudge down that dark road. It's a kind of tacit agreement, I suppose, or maybe a symbiotic relationship, such that as long as the reader is invested in the kink, the writer is invested in generating it . . .

More than a nudge. We constantly remind readers that a parent or child or sibling or aunt/uncle is involved because It Is Wrong. When an offspring slurps mom, they're mouthing the portal from which they entered the world. When they slurp dad, they're worshiping their paternity. Sis fucks bro because she feels she must. Sonny fucks aunty because she's so like mom. It's strong because it's wrong. Never let the reader forget.
