My small company works in providing (navigation) and other services with respect to the data, specified, monitored, and arising from clinical trials. The biggest issue as I see it is not providing a different method of financing or insurance of the existing health system, but firstly getting rid of the vast network of unnecessary law and regulation which entraps the industry at every point.

But all the existing beneficiaries, Doctors, Hospitals, Lawyers, Politicians, Pharma companies, Insurers, plus many others have a vested financial interest in preserving the current insanity. There is no effective competition in Health services in any first world country. There might be small specialist pockets of competition but overall the vested interests want the existing highly profitable mess to continue.

as for 'adopting this country', i know lace makes a huge deal about me wanting to be here for green card purposes, but i'd never have come to america to live as a choice but it was something that had to happen for H and i to be together under the circumstances as they stand. will i remain in america? that's another story and depends entirely on how long my husband lives.. he's likely to live a long long time. do i think of america as my country? no, not at all; it's a weird place (at times) & i'm a brit and have no plans on giving up my citizenship. however, it IS where i live and i am at home ONLY because i am with the man i love. end of.
