Yes, accusations generally precede convictions. And yes, the base would not care whether he did it or not.

They, the NYT, have really gone over-the-top this time. Not a shred of verification, or even a first-hand accusation. The "victim" says she doesn't remember. It's just another blatant attempt to politically smear a Conservative.
