Loving Wives Category

My original comment had more to do with the preponderance (to my perception) of cuckold stories in Loving Wives. Nothing more implied aside from that observation. Not passing judgement, but I said maybe cuckold stories should have their own category OR maybe another category could be setup for those who don't want see 90% cuckold stories.
I see rjordan replied. I like his stories!
And I enjoy cheating stories; stories about reconciliation successful or not; swapping; retaliation; etc. I just wondered if other readers thought the LW category was becoming too much cuckodry.
I not posting my comments anonymously! I'm not casting aspersions!
And I have at least eight stories in various stages of completion.

Question: What part of extra-marital fun would signify to you that there is no cuckolding going on?

Question: If a wife is asked by the husband to have some extra-marital fun, doesn't that make her a Loving Wife?

Question: What do you see as the definition of extra-marital fun?

I think you hit the nail on the head in the last sentence. Splitting up categories means fewer people will see the story, and it means readers will have to figure out which category to visit. A good chunk of those readers will be looking for stories that could fit into either category.

Rutger5 and rjordan have the right idea: better use of tags. Tags should be visible in a bar over the heading of the story. Readers instantly could figure out what type of LW story it was, and presumably if you gave them fair warning the trolling would diminish at least somewhat.

I don't think writing better stories is the answer. I've followed the category enough to know that good stories get bombed as well as bad ones. LW stories get MUCH lower scores than stories in other categories. In Erotic Couplings, about 25% of stories get a 4.5 or above; in LW, it's only 6.7%.

Don't count on it. I left comments and voting on a couple of stories you would all call cuckold stories with an author note telling them what it was. Guess what all the comments were about, except for 2.

"Just another cuck shit story."

And actually before the holier than thou crowd showed up deriding LW stories and 1 bombing them all there were a lot of the cuckold type with higher than a 4.5. Since that faction that hate cuck stories showed up and 1 bombed them all to oblivion scores have suffered.

That's one reason I don't allow comments or voting on my LW stories which probably has my others suffering, but trolls will be trolls because that's all they know how to do.

The category has always been bad, but it's been steadily devolving. The nasty commentary used to involve paragraphs of complaints as often as not, and it's shifting heavily toward the "nasty cuck shit 1*", and "Kill yourself before you breed" now.

You're probably right. The tag solution might weed out a few, but I'm sure plenty of trolls still would bomb the stories.

I don't think there's really a solution. Dividing the category would be problematic in a variety of ways, and in particular by reducing the audience. I'm not sure that trolls wouldn't follow the new category just to bomb the stories in it.

If you want to maintain a higher score I think the best option is to post in a different category. That does make a difference.

At this point, LW is utterly broken. It's too big to fix.

The only real solution is to leave it as a legacy category, still available on the front page, with its own hub, etc. but close it to new submissions, note that in the appropriate locations, and then create three new separate categories. Cuckold/Cuckqueen, Consequences ( BTB ), and Cheating/Hotwife/Swinging.

It would split the readership, and some of the trolls would still roam, attacking what they hate. I think there are a fair number of readers who genuinely don't like having Cuckold and Consequences stories mingled together — often with no way of knowing which it's going to be until a fair distance into the story — and just want their pet peeve removed so they don't stumble upon it.

In the end, I think it would result in more stories, though. It's hard to imagine how many authors pack it in when the first story they post is to LW and it gets eviscerated by one camp or the other. More stories could potentially make all three categories strong enough that the lost views and votes are balanced by a readership that is there specifically for that kink.

LW is broken? Then fuck LW. Post elsewhere. Make your cucks aliens or centaurs or hive-creatures. Or find compatible categories. If spouses cheat a lot, put their tales in Group Sex. If one-at-a-time it's Erotic Couplings. If they cheap interracially, go there. Et fucking cetera.

Use LW to dump stories you don't care about, under alt IDs. Let the ravening hordes riot and rampage. Fuck-em. Hey, how about the gal who did her hub's squash league?

Fetish or Erotic Couplings are both pretty good for LW stories. The view per story are less then in LW, but there are no trolls there, or not many trolls there.

I agree. I've also seen stories that could have been posted in LW posted in Exhibitionism instead, and they get higher scores than they would if published in LW, but possibly fewer views. They get some trolls and one bombs, but not as many.

And of course there is Interracial Love for those Loving Wives that like that BBC.

Although I like poking the bear with a stick...a lot. ;)

The secret to making Loving Wives less of a cess pool (and I say "less", because good old SwingerJoe and Harry in Virginia are going to keep at it, regardless), is to disallow anonymous comments.

Currently we don't have that ability in the dashboard (I just went and checked, and you can either have comments On or Off, not Comments Only By Logged in Accounts), but adding it would go a LONG way to making the drive by "You should die" comments go away.

Most people won't say things like that when it's their name or trackable to them personally. Sure, some still will, but the incidence rate will drop a lot I suspect. For most it's just too much trouble to go away and create an account to just be a fuck wit on it.

As I and many others have said over and over, most of the useful comments in LW come from Anonymous. Look at your own two "non-anonymous" examples. I've had comments from Harry in Virginia that were longer than my fucking story and said squat.

There are many reasons why someone wants to be anonymous. I would think anyone associated with a porn story site would understanding that.

The main problem with LW is writers who have a hissy fit when their average score is less than 4.5. The troll attacks are laser-focused on destroying the one thing they value--votes. Eliminate that target and trolls have nothing to shoot at.

You can disallow anonymous comments universally, but not by individual story at the moment. As often as it's requested, I wouldn't doubt it will be on the agenda once the new pages have gone live, and had any wrinkles ironed out.

I don't think blocking anonymous would really help in LW. What I think would actually happen is that the positive/constructive comments would decline dramatically, and the trolls would sign up for throwaway accounts to continue spewing their bile.

Especially the worst of them.

Trackable? Yes. Within the scope of reason to do so for the nature of most of the comments? Not even close. I don't think it would take long for word of that to spread to anyone in the camps who doesn't already know it, either. The worst they're looking at is a ban. That's rare, and remedied within a minute with another throwaway account.

Don't blame anyone for wanting the ability to choose that or exercise it, but I don't think it's a solution as long as the camps are having to share the same territory. They're essentially terrorists attempting to drive out the authors and readers they don't like from their god-given land. That kind of fanaticism is like life in Jurassic Park. It finds a way.

Harry, at least, doesn't seem to carry his anger outside the category. I've had numerous glowing comments from him in other categories. As a matter of fact, he even left a positive comment on my LW story in this name, which was a bait and switch where there wasn't any actual cheating going on.

His comment on my other story in the category was somewhat less complimentary LOL

One possible solution would be a percentile based score system, in which stories receive a score based on their rank in the category. This would partly defeat the problem that LW stories are rated significantly lower than other stories. I don't know if it's doable.

Even if it's doable in a technical sense I can't imagine the site would have a different way of ranking just one category of stories. That would cause a lot of angst at a minimum and to switch all stories to a new system would be very unpopular I'm guessing.

While I won't go as far as Reject Reality in calling LW terrorists (though some are close in the way he describes) I've noticed that at Lit people feel strongly on what should be in certain categories and can be dismissive of things that don't fit their ideal, LW being the worst but BDSM, Romance, Non-con, etc fans also being very rigid in their thinking of what belongs.

Can't see creating multiple new categories and splitting readership to the level needed so that sensitive readers can all have their safe spaces. Wouldn't work for a lot of reasons and it seems silly that would be necessary for an adult site. Only hope is that when site overall is completed tags are moved to top of first page of story. Then if writer tags story accurately the readers will be able to avoid stories that offend their sensibilities and hopefully in time things will become less hostile though not saying it will eliminate all ill will.

The LW camps are too set in their ways to let something like tags that are prominently displayed stop them from continuing to spew hate.

Every category has its share of people who want to mold the category to their own tastes via low scoring and mean commentary. Few of them are remotely as vile, hateful, persistent, and organized as the LW crowd. The only competition they have are the white supremacists in Interracial and the militant homophobes...

Well, they're pretty much everywhere except GM.

Loving Wives is their Temple Mount. The bombs will continue to go off in rapid succession until the place is a smoking, radioactive, crater of glass.

Then the freakish mutant cockroaches that survive will fight over the crater.

We used to have that option. I don't know what happened to it? Another item that slipped though the cracks of new system woes.

Never mind...found it.

I heard Manu is working on a Bubble Room option. Nothing gets in but 4.5+ votes. If there are none, the software generates one for the author to play with.

THANKS to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I'm a new author here. Back in December, before submitting my first story, I emailed a question to Literotica (from the main author's intro page) asking what category a cuckold story should fall into. I was dumbstruck that it didn't already have it's own category. I never received a response. So, I put the first story into NonConent/Reluctance, and the rest into Loving Wives. Particularly with the 3 LW stories, the Anonymous Comments were brutal, suggesting I commit suicide, suggesting I live in my parents' basement (I'm actually a professional with a Masters' degree, a few years shy of retirement), and suggesting that I've never had sex, because I write about it so poorly. But the chief driver for all this vitriol seems to be that there is a large group of Commenters determined to wipe out cuckold stories comptetely.

Don't count on it. I left comments and voting on a couple of stories you would all call cuckold stories with an author note telling them what it was. Guess what all the comments were about, except for 2.

YES!! "1 bombing" is a great term for it. And the truly hilarious thing is that, from stylistic similarities, I can tell that the same several Anonymous commenters have commented on ALL my stories. They say they're worthless, but claim to have read them all. AND, they are always the first to rate and comment. When I put up a new story, the average rating always starts in the low 2s, because all the "1 bombers" apparently Follow me to make sure they never miss a chance to berate me. Then, as time goes by, and more people from my intended audience find my stories, the ratings climb to the middle or upper 3 range.

The category has always been bad, but it's been steadily devolving. The nasty commentary used to involve paragraphs of complaints as often as not, and it's shifting heavily toward the "nasty cuck shit 1*", and "Kill yourself before you breed" now.

Yes, I've had dozens of those exact comments.

But I figure, it takes them about 30 keystrokes to write the comment, and it only takes me one keystroke to delete it.

Avengerfive, you don’t know the half of it! Not only will those same angry anons take the time to copy-and-paste their adolescent comments on every story you write if they find only one story they don’t like, they will one-bomb every one of your stories as well.

The all-time favorite highlight of my Literotica “career” was when some anony claimed that all my stories are low-rated. I responded that seventeen of my stories had earned the coveted “red-H” for a score of 4.5+. Within minutes, every one of those red-H’s disappeared! That anony (or someone) actually spent the time and effort to one-bomb those seventeen stories so many times (using multiple IP addresses I can only assume) that all of those scores were lowered to 4.49!

But wait! It gets even more pathetic.

Someone with a username who enjoys antagonizing me then called me a liar because none of my stories had a red H. I responded to her, pointing out that over 20 of my stories were now scored 4.49. What a coincidence, huh?

Guess what happened within minutes?

Yep, you guessed it. All of those 4.49 stories suddenly, mysteriously, and coincidentally dropped to around 4.30!

Never underestimate just how much time those idiots in LW are willing to waste in their pathetic attempt to drive you away. The best revenge possible is never going away. Keep posting the stories YOU enjoy where YOU feel they belong. It drives them insane!

Wow!!! That's some crazy stuff. I guess you almost have to admire their dedication. I wonder if they are able to hold down normal jobs while working this hard to keep Literotica pure?

It's almost hard to believe until it happens to you. One of my better stories to me was bombed when I first released it. It took days before it even broke above a 3. I thought I wrote the worst story ever until I found other writers with the same problem. I looked and saw that my story had almost a hundred votes of a 1 when it was first released that morning. Someone has a serious hatred for this category.

Oh, crap! I didn't read the quote in your post, and thought you were responding tongue-in-cheek to the post above you.

https://literotica.com/my/#/user/options

Direct link to where you can universally turn off all feedback, or all anonymous feedback. There just isn't an option to do so for individual stories yet. If all you write is LW stories, then you're in luck, should you want to eliminate anonymous.

I do believe that also prevents someone from sending anonymous feedback through the contact form, as well. Of course, all they need to do is enter anything with the structure of an email — something @ somewhere.com — into that box, and the system will let it go through. It doesn't verify the email entered or anything.

Wow ... now, by comparison, I feel like I've been warmly welcomed! LOL
