Congratulations to President Obama!

The destruction of money as a store of value by debasement of the major currencies through irresponsible fiscal and monetary policy has commenced. Investors are demonstrating an unwillingness to invest in anything other than the shortest possible duration financial instruments and easily transported tangible assets. They are fearful of both inflation and constructive expropriation.

Okay, now I know where you get your financial news from-- the home Shopping Channel.

And here we all thought you were reading Forbes, at least.

Dude--what are your investors using to buy the gold and diamonds? And who are they buying them from? And who is pocketing the (hehe about to be devalued hehe) cash?

You're just another goldfish in the bowl.

Stella, you've made a noble effort

But there is no way to help Trysail. I am afraid that he has already drank the kool-aid.
it seems that the right has become a cult instead of a party. They hold beliefs instead of knowing facts. They stand in a circle facing inward, only listening to others in the same circle. They can reinforce their 'facts' to each other without fear of knowledge leaking in from the outside world, because they have turned their backs on knowledge.

Our job as a voting american is to try to do our best to sideline them until their numbers decrease as they die off. They are a cloud's shadow that is passing over our country but they are passing quickly now. Soon they will gone and the bright light of the sun can shine on us again.

To our children they will just be an unpleasant memory in our nation's history like the Salem witch trials and the Jim Crow laws. Once they are gone, we can get on with the job of building a country, that belongs to and looks out for, all its people.

I'm reading a bio of Nikita Krushchev, Stalins successor.

Krushcvhev was a poor boy who made good. Life in Tsarist Russia was cruel and impoverished for most people. If you got a job your employers had a legal right to beat you and take your money. The Brits loved outsourcing their jobs to Russia back then.

But Krushchev said something interesting in his memoir: AS BAD AS LIFE WAS IN THE DAYS OF THE TSARS WE (COMMUNISTS) MADE LIFE WORSE. Beating and theft were the least of the problems after the revolution.

That's why we didn't elect Republicans

I like to read about old England during the times that Charles Dickens writes about. The contrast between rich and poor, the power of life and death your boss held over you, indentured servants and debtor prisons. It was a Republican wonderland. A place where wealth was supreme and human life was held so cheap.

I like to read about those days, I have no desire to live them. As a nation we did what we could to hold off those who would put us back into that sort of situation.

We don't think Obama is the right man for the job. He is too far into religion to be open minded about drugs, one of the biggest problems that Americans face, and he worked for a 'slum lord' during his career. We elected him because he was the best choice we had offered to us. As the hard right, not too bright whites of the GOP are sealed in boxes and stuck into the ground, we will be able to elect people that will reverse the course we have been traveling.

If that is not the case, If the country really wants to become a nation of 'rich man's boot lickers', well in that case I hope the Mayans are right.

Closet dictators, latent lynchers and hypocrites rarely have the self-awareness to recognize themselves for what they are.

It's liberty that actually scares them to death.

Well, it's been fun debating the relative merits of Obama's re-election and Capitalism vs. Socialism, but no minds are to be changed, so I'll just move along to more worthwhile pursuits ... like writing. :D

In closing, it would appear that the prevailing opinions around here on this and other threads of this nature are as follows:

What's good: :)

Big government/Socialism.

Keynesian Economics.

Peace at any price including weakening the military.

Moral, Cultural and Religious Relativism.

Class envy and Racial polarization.

Single issue voting.

Redistribution of wealth and property by an all-powerful government.

Being poor, downtrodden, persecuted and generally dissatisfied with the status quo.

Seeking and getting all the government handouts you think are due you.

Unions, wage and benefit demands, strikes, et al. (especially Public Employee, Teacher and US Government Unions).

Tariffs, excise taxes, VAT's and other taxes and penalties on imported goods.

Wanting the UN and all the nations of the world to like us.

Mainstream media outlets and most big city newspapers as credible and objective sources of information.

Continuance of massive deficits.

Anyone who isn't a white, middle-aged, straight male or female.

Liberal judges at any level, especially the Supreme Court.

Abortion and free birth control on demand.

Gay marriage.

CNN and MSNBC on cable.

Worshipping the Environment as God to the exclusion of progress.

Using the sun and wind as power sources.

The 'Arab Spring' and what followed.

The United Nations.

Liberal talk show hosts (Air America RIP).

Collectivism (see Herd Mentality).

Quotas in hiring, promotion, college admissions and differentiating requirements for the same jobs.

Generalizations and preconceived notions or beliefs about anyone who's Conservative, Libertarian or not Liberal

What's bad:

Any Republican politician, including former presidents. ( Especially Ronald Reagan, Bush pere and Bush fils )

Fox News and Conservative/Libertarian publications.

Capitalism or anything like it.

Anyone who's Conservative, Libertarian or not otherwise Liberal.

The US Military in general and specifically, making it stronger.

The US Constitution and Bill of Rights in their current form.

Conservative judges at any level, especially the Supreme Court.

Lower taxes, especially on 'the rich'.

Any reduction in the growth of government and it's multitudinous rules and regulations; no matter how intrusive they become into ones life.

Christians (including pro-lifers and those opposed to Gay marriage).

Straight white males and females (excluding Guilty White Liberals, Liberal movie stars, Liberal authors, writers, news commentators, book reviewers and critics and the entire editorial staff of the New York Times)

Pride in America and it's place in the world as a reigning superpower.

Striving to succeed and the desire to better oneself through hard work.

Accumulating wealth.

Not wanting to pay one's 'fair share' of taxes. [What the Hell constitutes a 'fair share' anyway?]

Owning property, especially rental housing, which includes landlords.

Wanting to keep what you've earned.

Thinking with your head instead of your heart (see Emotional Responses).

Driving a non-electric, big engined, large, gas-guzzling vehicle.

Drilling for oil ... anywhere in the US and offshore.

Using petroleum, coal or nuclear power as a source of energy.

Federal subsidies (except for Entitlement programs and Universal Health Care).

Private, for profit, health care.

Health insurance companies.

Israel defending itself.

Being of the opinion that you can succeed in life without government assistance (see Individualism or Self Motivation).

Thinking about what's good about and what's right with America.

Ayn Rand, especially 'Atlas Shrugged'.

Free markets.

Reaganomics, the Laffer curve, 'a rising tide lifts all boats' etc.

Being paid commensurate with your abilities.

Merit raises, especially for teachers.

Celebrating the individual and Freedom.

I'm sure I could think of more entries in either category, but you get the drift. ;)

See ya 'round the AH. :D

No, that's how someone would paint it who just has to have everything their own way (often without even realizing that "their own way" cuts "their own throats" and is just dogma or is based on raw hatred of something or someone), with their perception of their own way being more important than anyone or anything else, including the health and welfare of the country and world.

When that's the way they are going to be hell or high water, they make up lists like yours and then feel smug that they've put everyone else in their place.

I love those lists. They demonstrate exactly the thought process by which the republicans managed to lose the election. :)

Come on TE999,

It is not that complex to me. I think that there are rewards as well as duties when you are part of a nation. I think that I am partly responsible when my government kills people in other lands. I would like to see that stop. If the country is unwilling to legally declare a war, then we should not be killing anybody in other lands.

I think that our country should be able to behave in such a way that other nations would respect us. I wish that we wouldn't need to make them fear us.

I still hope that my fellow americans will learn to help their fellow countrymen when they can. I don't expect somebody to pass a credit check before I decide if they are worth saving or not. If they are in my country and working, they are americans in my eyes and I hold it against those that take advantage of them.

I think that Ron Paul lost my respect when he said in the debates that a man without insurance should be allowed to die since he had made the choice not to insure himself. I could never take the side of money over life.

I think that we are equal as americans, but as one american to another, in a real way we are on the same team. I would want to help you if I could just because we're both americans. The right seems to want to say they love america but at the same time they cut all the programs that help the poor. They rig the game because the 'game' is all that matters to many of them.

Like yourself I try to write from time to time. Lets make up a story, you're a right winger, I'm a drugged out hippy. Different in every way, but one, we are both americans serving in the army.

Lets say that we are in our foxhole together and as we talk I find that you think that the coal mine back home should be allowed to poison the rivers and that the mine owners should have complete control over the mines where my brothers work.
I might find that you wanted to make my mother give birth to the child of the guy who raped her. But I would start to look at you funny when you let me learn that after she is forced to give birth to her rapist child , you don't think that she should be rewarded for her immoral behavior by being allowed to get welfare.

Well by then that foxhole would be getting crowded.

I have a hard time agreeing with your views, but I do agree that we are not likely to change anybody's mind here. It is very much like watching really hard core bible thumpers argue. A lot of talking, not much listening. Brings to mind an old Beatle song.

"Wiping his hands as he walks from the grave.
no one was saved.
All the lonely people"

A well reasoned, rational and measured response to my posting. Kudos to you sir. :D

But I wonder, what did you get from his response? Which argument made sense to you?

can you explain to me, please, what "buying" debt" entails? What do you get for your money?

I'm pretty sure that Khrushchev made bad rather than good. :D

Yes. It's not much of a compliment to be better than the man that went before - in K's case Joseph Besarionis Dzhugashvili.:D

Though he did make Kennedy pull back the missiles on the Turkish border with USSR.:)

I don't agree with Ron Paul's statement about insurance and letting people die; then again ol' Ron's nuttier than a squirrel fart.

The foxhole analogy/scenario was a bit overblown, but he made his points. I can't say I'm in favor of things like pollution or indentured servitude either. AFAIC what a woman does with her body is her business; especially where rape is concerned.

The rest of it; so much fluff, but I value his opinion even if I don't agree with it.

Some people around here need to learn that having a dissenting opinion on things social and political doesn't automatically make you some ogre who wants dirty water, dirty air, to oppress minorities, hates poor people, has no compassion and is a homophobe.

What I find amusing is a lot of Liberals who accuse others of being intolerant are as about as tolerant of other points of view as Cotton Mather was of witches. ;)

But . . . but . . . after posting that grossly polarizing list in #309 on what "everyone" here believes on the whole nine yards, you really don't have any room to be standing outside your "some people" designation.

I hate to upset you, but it was intended to be polarizing. That's what a different point of view looks like, sorry you didn't recognize it.

Did I say 'everyone'? I said 'some of you' beleive that Leftist crap. I don't. Deal with it.;)

But that's why you are a polarized wingnut. I'm not that polarized in my beliefs and perceptions. And I bet most people aren't. You seem to have a need to demonize anyone who doesn't agree with you, so this gets back to you really talking about yourself in the quoted "some people" statement. That's fine with me; doing this on a porn forum doesn't have any significance--other than giving me a good laugh when you post about other folks being political here. Should we go back and count how many posts each of us have written to this political thread, for instance--and how closely each of us has followed it in posting?

HAHAHAHAHAHA! All of a sudden it's the "Why are we discussing this on a porn site?" crap. You and your Lefty buddies here never miss a chance to criticize Republicans, Conservatives and anyone else who doesn't hew to your party line on any thread, regardless of subject matter. Don't try to deny it either Mr. I'm So Neutral. :p

You not polarized? Don't make me laugh (again). If you were so non-partisan, we wouldn't be having this exchange. We'd agree to disagree and that's it. But instead you call names and demonize me. Tit for tat, buster.

Personally, I don't give a flying fuck about who's posted what where about what and for how long. Nobody's christened you Thread Czar. I'll give my point of view whenever and wherever I feel like it so get used to it. ;)

I sort of liked Reagan and was just as pleased as punch with the first George Bush (worked in the administrations of both) and have been critical of Obama being up to the job. Oh, and as I've mentioned several times on this forum, I do believe that life begins at conception and have more than a bit of trouble accepting either that fetuses aren't living or that women have full rights just to off them as they please. Don't blame me if it gives you a coronary that we aren't all as far out there on one fringe or another as you are. And obviously you are more hopped up by all of this than I am--which I find pretty amusing.:D

My point is that very few people are as polarized as you obviously have to make them out to be to make you feel superior. It's your blood vessels that are popping out, good buddy. Fine with me.

Oh, and for the record, to be fair, I see that I've posted to this thread a lot more than you have. The difference is that I let it go as soon as I saw the wingnuts spitting all over the thread.

And when your point of view showcases you as willfully ignorant, selfish, money hungry, and ... well, basically a butthurt loser, and people laugh about that?

I hope you can get used to that.

Thread Czar, I think I would prefer Thread Tzar. And this is still a good one, as threads go, says the Tzar.
