Whether I am opening a can of worms here or not, I wanted to see at least one thread regarding last night's outcome, which pleased me very much. I wonder if anyone else is happy about the election results here, considering over half of the American population must be?

Yes, I am very happy. He can breath easily now, and so can us logical citizens.

Playa (back) in 'da house!

Which means that Sasha and Malia need not move.

Willard doesn't really need the White House.

He already has the Marriott Hotel.

I'd normally say that the forum already has a place for posts like this--the GB, where it's been hashed over a lot. But as they typically are so crazy about it on GB, it would be good to see a simple "It's done and this is an second opportunity to try to hang together as Americans and get back on the road as Americans" thread. We have a chance to be hopeful again--and both Romney and Obama reached that hand out to each other last night in their speeches. (Unfortunately, Romney will probably be ditched as anyone with any clout in the Republican party).

Obama took the "let's be bipartisan about the problem" the last time he won. Unfortunately he tarnished himself in my view by sticking to that long after it was obvious the Repubicans weren't going to move in that direction.

This is another chance to get it right as Americans rather than just being "my way or no way" partisan party members.

Can both sides agree at least that Donald Trump really, really is a flake? :D

(I can't resist, though, pointing out to the evangelical right that God apparently voted for Obama by dropping Sandy in our laps and giving Obama an opportunity to drive a stake into the Republican's whole disaster relief stance. :D)

Then maybe these "Republicans" need to go move in a different direction this time.

Like how about to their own republic?

Haha yeah, Donald Trump provided some zany comic relief this year. I love that guy and his dead cat. :D

Yes, but Obama needs to do it better this time too. (Lest you misunderstand where I'm coming from, I'm a liberal Democrat. Pretty much a democratic socialist.). I wasn't for Obama in the primaries the first time because he was promising too much too soon based on too little experience (which, of course, the voters lapped up). This gave him a leg up on Hillary Clinton, because she'd been in the White House for eight years and knew (and respected) the limits of pie-in-the-sky promises she could make and have a chance of delivering on.

I never expected Obama to get "there" in four years, although he stepped on his tongue (and showed his ill preparation for the job) by stating that if he couldn't do it in four years, he shouldn't be reelected. (I'm surprised the Republicans didn't plaster that sound bite all over the campaign this time more than they did.)

The difference--and opportunity--now is that he has more experience in what can be done and what has to be done to get there. Maybe he'll get it "righter" this time. Unfortunately, I'm not as as hopeful about the Republicans' intentions and willingness to start being "America's recovery first." I'm sort of ambivalent on that, though, because their continued inability to "get it" is what is keeping them out of the White House and the Senate.

The "man" needs to just 'man up' a little more. He needs to push what needs to be pushed. Just like he pushed Willard out of the White House even before he had one foot in there. I hear that Romney is very ambidextrous. I'm sure he won't miss a beat. Or a rest for that matter.

It sucks that the Republicans won't help a brother (and the country) out. They have always treated him like a second class citizen just because of the color of his skin. Like one has control over that.

Four more years of Obama is much better than four more years of Bush.

Might it be that it was the Republicans who were sabotaging Obama's agenda at every turn, even when it meant voting against the wishes of their own constituency? If they were actually called on that, the damage to their reputations would have been even greater, and I think they knew it. So they left their stones inside their glass houses.

Boehner stated, right at the beginning of his term as speaker, that the GOP's primary (indeed, all-encompassing) task was to make sure that Obama didn't get a second term. Now that they no longer have that impediment, we'll see if they can think of some other goal.

As a side note on Trump, he's just moved into my neighborhood--or could, if he wanted to. (He bought Albemarle House, close to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, at auction for $7.5 million; it originally was offered for $100 million, and he got it by buying its front yard in a separate parcel sale so that no one else would then want a $100 house without a front yard). No one I've talked to in the area is either amused or pleased about our new resident.

Well, yes (as I think I noted). He put up with that too long while the Democrats still had control of both houses. An LBJ would have given them three weeks to show substantive cooperation and then he would have rammed something they really, really didn't like through. He'd then ask them again if they wanted to work toward the middle on legislation, and if they said "no" again, he would have rammed another law through they really, really didn't like. And eventually they would have gotten the point. Obama fritted away his opportunities (because he really, really went for the job too soon in his experience arc) by assuming that all he needed to do was win the White House. (That's how he won the White House in the first place--by assuming it was the end goal and making all sorts of impossible "yes, I can" promises. At which point we go back to the "not so bright" electorate.)

Unfortunately, I think the Republicans' approach (the real problem is that their party is too disjointed now to think and act cleverly) will be to "prove we were right all along."

The main problem with the Republican Party is simple linguistics.

They think this is the Conservative Conglomerate of White Men.

Well, it happens to be the United Fucking States of America.

I think there are more disparate factions than that in that party. But I also think this is an opportunity for us to have another go at pulling together, so I have no interest starting the stuff all over again this soon on what pulls us apart.

I just hope that Obama's recently acquired experience in his first "not the best" term helps him get it "righter" this time. I didn't think it was time to start all over with someone who would think of what we need in government as the same as what an entrepeneur thinks is needed in business. (I just went through that at the University of Virginia with a rector who thought a state university should/could be run like her business was and with the same financial bottom-line goals.)

Funny, I was thinking about Obama's girls and what their teenage years in the White House would be like and, soon after, an article on yahoo news talked about that very thing.

I hope the Romney supporters can get over the defeat of their Republican leader and put as much energy into healing our differences as creating them, Trump and Rove included.

I'm happy with the results of the Election, though I would have liked to see more Demos in the House.

At least my district was able to dump a Repub, if only by 180 votes!

Hope is the thing with feathers... neither Rove nor Trump are things with feathers.

Yep, I think that the "I just stand here and hope there are pretty lights" folks are going to find themselves standing in a dust cloud right quick.

I seriously thought about moving to Europe if Romney had won.
Hopefully that rich ass crawls under a rock with Ryan as well. Two asses meant for one another the greedy bastards.

Oh cum on now.

Mr. Ryan might actually like that.

It's all centered right around that back area when it comes to him.

Maybe he can be the new Boehner.

I hear that Mr. Cantor needs a new bitch.

Except this time he plans to be right in the front.

Well, all bashing aside, congratulations to us. :rose:

Now I wanna go have that heart attack I've been putting off these past months.

A day of celebration. Oh, how sad this country has become.

Not much more than a decade ago there were people who wanted Clinton out of office because he got a BJ from an intern. A 1000 page report from Kenneth star untold tax dollars spent on that report BTW and a hue and cry to get rid of a president who otherwise, did a pretty good job.

Now here we are with man who has the blood of an ambassador on his hands.

An American ambassador was killed in our embassy, meaning American soil, which is pretty much an open act of war and our president apologizes.

Celebrate?

The media should have been tearing at his throat for this, especially as more and more proof is coming out it could have been avoided. Think about Watergate. What Nixon did was not a fraction as controversial as this.

The media should have been crucifying him, its their job, could there be a bigger story? No, they are barely talking about it.

Romney had the chance to call him out for his outright lies about it and the moderator deflected the question.

Celebrate. Celebrate the man who has made this country weak. That has made this country a laughing stock to the nations around us. Who kisses the asses of the beliefs of others and apologies for our beliefs.

Celebrate.

If you have a loved one in the army/reserves or any armed forces kiss them goodbye in the next for years. They are sitting ducks. who knwos, maybe they aren't even allowed real bullets anymore.

Al-Qaeda is declaring all westerners should be kidnapped. Obama apologizes.

All islam isn't bad. True, but I guess we should just sit around and be killed by the bad ones and just keep saying we're sorry.

There is nothing more dangerous than a second term president. He cannot be elected again, he now has nothing to lose. Pilot hopes he'll do better? Try ten times worse.

This man was elected with literally not giving his platform. Elected with blood on his hands, again let's throw a big ass party.

Was Romney going to save the day? Sadly not, he was seriously flawed as well. But this crap that we can't let a rich guy run the country? At least he knows how to make money. At least he put forth his ideas. And end of the day are the rich suffering under Obama?Hardly so that whole blue collar vs white collar crap was just that, crap.

Obama didn't discuss his platform because he has none. All he knows is he just has to keep smiling and saying he's sorry and letting us sink further towards being an impoverished nation, which in the end is what he wants.

This man has made us a laughing stock, has made our people and our armed forces sitting ducks. He sat there like a clueless fool at that first debate, he gave no one any ideas of what he would do in his second term.

Again a dead ambassador that did not have to die, just before the election and he says he's sorry we got in their way.

And this country elected him and people here say celebrate?

I was not a Romney fan, I dislike the Republican's belief to try to bring religion into things and hate their stance on women's rights. In the end Romney lost because assholes like Mourdock couldn't keep their mouths shut.

So this election was who we felt were the lesser of 2 evils. I voted for Romney I wasn't very happy to do so, but saw him as better than 4 more years of the emasculation of this country.

I'm sure there are many who cast for Obama with those same mixed feelings. This was not a great set of choices.

And for those who thought Obama was the lesser evil, you have every right to feel that way

But celebrate?

All that shows is Obama's mealy mouthed, spineless, apologetic, bullshit has trickled right down through the nation, which is exactly what he wanted.

And the GB does go crazy with this, but over there you will see a lot of people not happy with the decision and not afraid to state it.

The GB is freedom of speech the AH is the "yes sirs" of the forums.

Anyway go ahead and celebrate, you earned it. I'll be sure to bookmark this thread so I can bump it in a couple of years.

That is if we still are allowed enough freedom to post here or aren't all being forced to pray to Allah.

So if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to head down to the gun shop to begin to stock pile ammunition while I still have the freedom to buy it.

The rest of you brush up on the two words American's will be forced to speak in a variety of languages.

"I'm sorry"
