Matador

Next to a leather arm chair

The smell of old books and vintage tapestries all waiting in a long forgotten library burried by the new matropolis. Light gleaming through the windows, dust particles glittering the light beams shining on the old leather chair...waiting

Ah, happy memories of IM lead singer Paul DiAnno (yes, I am that old) jumping off the stage to thump a bouncer because he wouldn't let us down to the front of the stage... <sigh>

Lotus Eater
(from a book I was made to read in High School, can't recall the title)

"Courage!" he said, and pointed to the land.

I'll give you another bit of Tennyson:

Now sleeps the crimson petal
Now the white
Nor waves the gold fin in the porphyry font
The firefly wakens, waken thou with me ...

Lovely new avatar, dahlink! Quite jolly.

It is a short story by Somerset Maugham The Lotus Eater.

Or a Science Fiction story: The Lotus Eaters
Actually Og, the Lotus Eater was a character in the book. She was a concubine of a Chinese rice farmer.

Oh I thought you meant Tennyson's poem The Lotus Eaters.

The Chinese rice concubine must have been a lotus root eater?

I had a tasty tin of rice birds once from the Chinese supermarket. They were like tiny dolls house chickens. The bones were all crunchy. Mmmm.
