Not sure if this is the right place for this, and I really don't want this to turn into a whodunnit thread, but... over a hundred of the people killed on that flight were delegates travelling to an international AIDS conference in Melbourne. One of the dead is Joep Lange, whose work saved thousands upon thousands of lives.

Any airline crash is a tragedy, but this one seems especially sad. It's a huge setback to AIDS research and prevention.

Edit: or maybe not "over a hundred" delegates, other reports suggesting the number might be smaller. But still awful.

I don't recall them mention that in the news so maybe a the Russians did it on purpose since they cant stand gays.
