Hi Ku Cat

Marriage as Transactional Analysis

we clear some more space
.......to hold all her art projects—

..I get more bookshelves

i can only leave
...heel marks in the ocean sand—
......ones tides will erase

........yet still i leave you some marks,
..though in language you can't read

Plant Consciousness

Samaras gather
.....under these maples. Mine spin

..toward you, I think.

garden

...dahlias are blooming
early in our north country

........they color my life

I saw your name, sweet angel,
there beside the funeral stone,
laid a wreath of flowers where love is abit stored,
my heart sang for the sight, plans were thrown away,
and there and then an oath I swore to tell you in this way,
thanks for the introduction to mine own other,
thanks for your words and grace.

Road Trip, slamming day,
fast, fast, fast, a race,
down hill, interstate,
baptized in Nashville,
baked at the auto pick but got the parts,
lunch and a long haul at speed,
Camry humming, baby's face,
slip into town, shop w/haste,
hit the road,
home safe.

chestnut leaves falling
...on our deck at midsummer

............a mayfly, dying

Hickory nuts fell
crack and clack on our back deck,
summer winding down.

Wow! Angeline has written a haiku! (is this the first one by you?), and it's a real haiku, and very original.

Word winding is great here, it invokes the feeling of wind. It connects the summer with the coming fall. The appearance of summer in this haiku is truly poetic, it's not just a formal requirement to be fulfilled. The whole poem is very sensual.

Some authors and critics claim that haiku must be exclusively here and then--this is a harmfully simplistic view. Angeline's haiku has its "here and then" at its best, but it also provides distance and a large time/space frame.

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. I was just riffing on Tzara's poem with my own memory. 🙂

.

So many dead leaves.

....Now even our crows refuse
............to perch in this tree.

Quiet now, revelers gone,
dominoes packed, flask empty,
sheets turned back,
sweet dreams.

Things Found in a Bible

MEMO
DATE: The 13th day of March 1990
TO:My Mother
FROM: Me

Dear Mother I don't communicate as often as I should - the deep feeling's of emotion, of thanks to you of late

For all the stuff you've done for me - the worries and the woes -

The times you've washed my dirty clothes - the times you've blown my nose

- you've patched me up after fights and stood up for my rights -

you've sewn on a thousand buttons and stayed up a hundred nights.

Your Southern Grace & style have blessed me for all time.

Your strength has supported me mile after weary mile...

these and many other things too numerous to mention you've done for me
and more

You've sent me off tall, proud, and Happy - you've met me at the door.

I guess what I'm trying to say is just plain "Thanks"

But that simple word Just's not enough - so let's Try this instead -

IF love was money - Mom you'd be a Bank

The lone last leaf falls,
.....though it's still early autumn,
.............the air not yet cool.

.....I am wondering. Should I
.............try to plant another tree?

My Final Assignment

Walk across the stage,
accept the package, shake hands.

.....It's how the thing's done.

forget winter
summer's the season of goodwill
or so the critters think
the time of glut
beans, cukes, toms, squash, and now figs
not to mention okra, tomatillos and more

rabbit to wasp
chicken to butterfly
all attend the banquet...
and still we have more than we can use

Ku's in the kitchen figs in the pan,
tiff over the wooden spoon,
Waterchild wants to hold it, wins,
licks it clean, dreams of figgy jam.

7am fog

whey disc hangs
motionless, mute
in a hushed sky

clouds kiss blacktop
perpetuate muffled congress
with fields and trees

lone dog limps past
nose to destiny

the air simply smoke

........so we are left breathing death—
....................millions of young pines
