Writing Goal for the Day?

I suppose I shouldn't, but I was surprised when it allowed me to access. At the library, when I use their wifi, I can't even access Lit (which is good, I guess, as it lessens distractions). I'll have to be more conscientious next time, or else give it up and go home.

I don't have any qualms about using free WiFi to access Lit, its just getting harder and harder to do it as more sources are increasing their restrictions to what they consider pornographic material. I can still access Lit. at B & N, on the metrorail, and surprisingly, at local government buildings.

Sounds like a great set up. There are bars overlooking the water around here, but the volume of the foot traffic would be too distracting. Although, the eye candy would be a good source of inspiration, especially this time of year.

There is a table in one corner away from most traffic that has a plug for my laptop. It also has a small light on the rail that works great for evening use.

Yeah, there is a swim beach a few yards from where I sit. Mix beer, bikinis and horseplay and the distractions can double in no time. :D

I admire your perseverance. You do a good thing for us, sir.

Well, I don't mind if places limit or deny access, like at the library. The way I see it, I'm using their stuff and so I don't mind abiding by the rules. I also, like so many, click on the "agree" button without reading it. Perhaps next time I'll read. Or better, I should just not access it and give myself fewer distractions.

I think rules like that are more about 1) being politically correct, not want to risk a complaint and 2) common sense against pinheads. There are too many people who wouldn't think to turn off images before access literotica, for example. Worse, the idjits with real problems who think just because they can access erotica on the web in a public space means they're allowed to masturbate there, too. Just because I can buy a Penthouse, Hustler, or Playboy at the newsstand in the airport doesn't make it okay for me to flip through it on the plane. Some people truly ARE idjits.

Today's writing docket includes polishing up a short story for mainstream competition, working on a Dirk Hessian ancient Chinese novel the publisher wants a glossary and character list added to, editing a story for a Lit. member, going over notes for a mainstream reading on Saturday, and finishing off a habu dark domination novella. Wonder how much of that I'll get done.

I love writing at Starbucks and B&N, usually finding me as far away from others as possible. I do tend to spend 2 or more hours at these places, though I do spent more than $10 or more on drinks and food, so I've never received guff.

I'd love to be able to sit on a beach and type, but I'm an OLD SCHOOL computer programmer, so sand and surf wig me out. I do the pen and paper writing there, usually being distracted by my hot wife and/or other women ;)

Today: Trying to get some ideas down....

I can't write anywhere public--the background swirl is too distracting. And I shy away from any wifi cafe that won't give me full, uncensored access to the Internet. There's a couple of gas station cafes that I can work well at for just surfing and checking.

as long as I can have music I can write anywhere. When I can't write is in silence. I just don't need back ground music it needs to be crashing through my head. It can be different types of music but it has to be cranked.

I mostly just need not to be interrupted every few minutes with "Mom, I want ... !" And today it was nice not to be home and feel like I should be doing something else.

Interruption is the big thing - especially if you're in the middle of writing one of those scenes! :D

My husband writes too, and hollers loud enough if I interrupt him, yet he pesters me incessantly when I try to sit down for an hour and type! Figures...

That's just his way of telling you that he loves you. If he could write as well as you, he would have sat down and put it in print for you to read later.

I used to be able to write with the noise in the background, but it's very hard for me to do so now, probably because I'm so used to the silence. I also like to be available to the family and with my writing, I tend to get drawn in and become grumpy if interrupted.

So after two or three nights of PennGirl not sleeping well with a cold, PennBoy was up (poor guy) from about midnight to after three with some kind of virus. Mr Penn and I got about four hours of sleep, and PennBoy will stay home from school today as a precaution. Writing? Not likely.

Boo! Hiss! That's terrible news. Get feeling better PennFamily!

Meanwhile, as I wait another day for my recent submissions to post (it's been three days so far), I'm determined to finish story #3 for the Anal section. Don't believe I'm going to take each category alphabetically for the Survivor Contest, but we'll see.

Of course, I SHOULD consider starting the process of doing my taxes or consider visiting my stores to check in with my people... but writing will win out for now. I'll write until I hit a block and then walk away to let it all stew.

Thanks, Bucky. :) PennGirl seems good, and I may take her to the library if Mr Penn doesn't mind taking care of PennBoy. But I don't want to interfere with his work. I just think it might be a good idea to get PennGirl out of the house for a while.

Good luck with the writing. :)

Finally back in a good writing groove. My goal is to have a story up by V-Day and an epilogue to current story just after that. Happy Friday, everyone!

Weekend's here, at least, for me!!

I spent some time at Barnes and Noble today, sharing my ideas for stories with my literary club friends. They all agree with my wife-better half-the apple of my eye, I should just FUCKING write and critics be damned!! Haters are goin' hate on ya, as our children would say.

I wrote several character backgrounds as we talked, or more precise, they talked and I half listened. Now that I'm home and the iPod is loud, I'll try to write 600 or so more words in a stry I started yesterday, posted in Erotic Fantascenes.

Didn't get too far into yesterday's schedule, so today is finishing up writing a dark domination novella, starting satisfying the publisher's demands on a Dirk Hessian ancient Chinese novel, and reviewing a client's manuscript for flow and consistency. And getting ready for an all-day writers' conference tomorrow.

Caught a break and got 3500 words, more or less done an old stalled story. Looking good now.

Got 1300 words down on a new story. Also, worked out the first chapter of a three part story that I hope to get started next month. On Monday it's back to editing the second half of DM3.

Getting back to my non lit BDSM novel. Although a mother/son plot bunny keeps gnawing at me. Hopefully I can stall it a couple of more days.

Got a few more words in on a couple of stories. I just wish I could finish one or two.
