Damon found himself reluctant to pose for the picture when Eva held up her phone. He knew what the picture was going to be for, and wondered if it was going to cause her problems in the future. His fears melted away when she turned her phone around afterward and showed him the name that she'd assigned to his face. He couldn't help but chuckle. Still he was glad about what she'd said about her calling him. He wanted her to know that he wanted to be there for her well-being too, not just for the sex.
It was hard not to push for more when Eva grabbed his forearm and leaned close to kiss his cheek, especially when she let that kiss linger longer than was norm for that gesture. "Count on it..." Damon said softly at last, moments before she let him go and headed for the bar.e He lingered at the table, watching her walk away, part of him hoping that she would look back at him one last time.
Only when Ava and Danny were out the door and gone did Damon finally grab the bottle that Eva had left on the table and head towards the bar.
"I know it's late..." Damon started as he approached the bar, hoping that he was talking loud enough for the last employee to hear him. "But is there any way I can get you to call me a cab?"
The tall and thin man behind the bar looked Damon up and down once before turning towards the door that Eva and Danny had left through. "You're a friend of Eva's...Damon, right?" The man asked simply as he ignored the question that Damon had asked him.
Damon lowered his gaze for a second before nodding. "Yeah, old friend from high school. Came for the show and...well everything else just sort of happened..."
The man simply listened to Damon's words and studied him for a few seconds afterwards, studying him. "Cabs are too damn expensive. I'll give you a lift. Just try not to make a habit of it, alright?"
"I...uh...sure man. I didn't even really plan on this. Like I said, it all just sort of...happened."
"I hear you. Just give me a couple minutes to finish up and we'll head out." Damon just nodded then and took a seat at the bar, his hands playing with the bottle he held as he waited for the man.
When at last it was time to go, Damon followed the guy out of the bar, watched him lock up, and followed the man to his car. He was far too lost in his head to notice what kind of car it was or the condition it was in. Hell, he barely had enough presence of mind to tell the man which hotel he was staying at before he retreated into his head once more.
The trip to his hotel felt like nothing to Damon. He couldn't stop thinking about Eva, what they'd done, and what he hoped they'd do in the future. Almost before he knew it, the man was pulling up to the hotel entrance and telling him that they were here. Damon opened the door and went to step out, but the man caught his arm in his hand. "My name's Dwight by the way, and any friend of Eva's is a friend of mine and Danny's..." The man started before his face got a bit more serious. "But you be good to her or we're all gonna have some problems, you understand?" After Damon nodded, the man let go of his arm and told him to have a good night.
The walk and elevator up to his room almost seemed to fly by for Damon, and before he knew it he was in the shower. He had no idea how long he lingered there, letting the water just pound on his naked body, but he hardly cared just then. All he could think about was Eva. He couldn't believe that he'd seen her again after all this time. He couldn't believe that he'd done what he'd done with her, knowing that she was living with the guy she'd been dating back then.
In the end, Damon had to just cut the shower off without even washing himself too thoroughly. He just rolled into bed and closed his eyes, not even caring about the moonlight streaming in through the wide open window. It was going to be a long night for him, that much was for certain.
