Yes ladies and gentlemen we are hard at work updating the MOST VOTES LIST which as you all know by now was stolen by a competing porn site. Those bastards!

But in the meantime we are rushing out this list to make sure the thousands of LITEROTICANS who’ve been asking for an update are at least aware of how the top stories on the site have been doing. A more complete listing will cum out when available…

The top 15 are as follows:
(unfortunately we’ve been only able to update 12 of the 15 – we are waiting for updates on the other 3 from the authors involved – all have been contacted). Unfortunately the incomparable Gary Johns has not been posting on the site for over three years and we may not receive an update on “A Mother and Her Son” or other of his top vote getting stories…

The number in brackets on the right is the number of new votes these stories have received during the first six months of the year (except for story #3 which has votes received over the last 12 months).

Jim still is holding the top two spots with stories that continue to draw the LITEROTICA reading public.​

Look at the figures and compare them to todays! What an incredible change. Wow!!!!

And I think we can thank ScouriesWorld for most of the change. For it was jim who first highlighted the importance of VOTES relative to the other measures. He was scoffed at back then (see the early posts in this thread). AHers laughed at him when he encouraged readers to take that extra second once they’d finished the story and vote.

Back then AHers thought a story that received 25 votes and was rated 4.87 was the ultimate in acclaim. Jim produced the first 1000 vote contest story back in late 2006. Some of the old timers (those mainly whose contest stories struggled to even get the measly 25 votes required) pretented to be unimpressed.

But others took notice. And they started asking for (and receiving more votes). Dr Heat was one of the early authors who succeeded in accumulating votes. And its continued over the years as more and more authors came aboard. Grteat authors like HeyAll and silkstockinglover who have now climbed to the very top of the LITEROTICA pyramid.

Well LAUREL the above are 2 very odd quotes. “The regular bumping of threads was disruptive to the forum”? Huh??? I’d check out the “game threads” in the forum if I were you and wanted to stop “regular bumping of multiple threads”! The tio”s and SamScribbles of AHland repeatedly bump 5 or 6 threads every day. And these threads, as you know, belong in the Playground Forum, the specific place you created for them.

Then you instruct me in the first quote that “there was no need to create multiple threads for this content…do so in a single thread”. Then you locked the thread and deleted the post.

So, obedient person that I am I moved the offending post to the one thread I’m allowed. Which is what you asked me to do.

Then what do you do? You delete the post from the thread you told me to put it on? WTF? Who was drinking what that day?

No problem QUEENIE. If you want to shut down threads that even have a hint of criticism of you that’s your prerogative. As ace so often points out its your private site and you can do whatever you want with it. But please don’t run on about how you are such a staunch defender of freedom of speech.

This thread was always about only one thing – a list of the stories that have received the MOST VOTES on LITEROTICA. You know it and I know it.

All this other bullshit on the thread you could have stopped years ago but you chose not to.

I am glad though that you are now promising to remove “duplicate posts”. I’ll send you a list later that will identify duplicate threads made on this thread – ugly mean posts – that I’m now sure you’ll be delighted to delete.

And you know the funniest thing about all this crap – the MOST VOTES LIST has always been the most popular thread (both in SF and AHland).

As soon as an updated list goes up people start clicking the thread open. Why? Because they’re interested in the content. Readers and authors want to know which stories are the best. The original thread averaged over 150 views per post.

As I challenged and invited you and MANU nine years ago – just add an OFFICIAL MOST VOTES LIST to the site and this thread will disappear…​

MOST VOTES RECEIVED THREAD Part 1

This thread was started on August 26th 2007 in the Story Feedback Forum (almost 9 years ago) by yours truly.

So why did I start the thread in the first place you might ask.

Well folks you had to have been here back then to understand how little attention was paid to vote totals in those days. The only thing our SF and AHland authors and so called experts wanted to talk about was the score their stories had received and if the stories had received red H’s. (If you want to get an idea of the hostility these people had toward even the concept of a Most Votes List I invite you to peruse to first 150-200 posts on this thread)

To me, almost from the first time I put up a story on LITEROTICA, I was far more interested in how many of my readers had voted and commented (and emailed me) on my stories. I invited, at either the start or at the end of each story, our readers to let me know what they thought of my stories by specifically asking that they vote and/or comment.

And they answered the call!!!! At levels that only one or two other authors had achieved before me (authors like the great rgjohn and TryAnything. And yet I was criticized for asking readers to vote for me.

I think what finally triggered the start of this thread was the Special Contests. In those days you only had to have 25 votes to qualify for a prize. A ridiculously low number! And yet, many of the sites supposed best authors (in their own minds anyway) couldn’t even amass a measly 25 votes on a site that draws millions of readers every week. So they’d go on the oggmans thread and beg for more votes from their friends so they could hit the magic 25. It was pitiful! I would have cried if I hadn’t been laughing at them.

In May 2005 I published “Swimming With the Dolphins” on LITEROTICA and it became my first 1000 vote story! Halle... fucking…lujah! I did announce this accomplishment on my famous Scories thread (a thread that was viewed over 436,000 times before LAUREL retired it).

Was I congratulated by my peers? NO!!!. In fact I was attacked from every side. And what about when soon after I entered one of the sites contests and my story became the first contest story to amass 1000 votes. Surely my confreres would have been happy for me. NOPE!!!. Hostile would be a better description of their responses.

Jealousy? What else could it have been? Mean spirited attacks rained down on me from all sides.

But I wasn’t scared off. Instead I intensified my attempts to provoke our readers to vote on not only my stories but on the stories of everyone. I gave my staff members at ScouriesWorld the task of finding every 1000 vote story on the site. A difficult task but one Gabby and her gang embraced wholeheartedly.

In those days there were no 30 day or one year top story lists – instead each category had a list of the 500 highest rated stories on the site. Lists that were combed through by my girls. 32 categories with 500 stories each meant we were able to examine some 16,000 stories. They only found some 65 stories that qualified! Then they sent out pm’s to the 50 most favorited authors on the site. This produced another 15 or so stories. We knew we hadn’t found all of them but we had a great start and we knew that once the thread was up and running we’d hear from many more authors.

So on August 26th 2007 we started the thread. With some 85 stories listed. The highest vote total at the time was about 5000 votes.

It met resistance! Anger! Irrationality! Some of the really old General Boarders even popped out of the woodwork to criticize me (eg. Dixie Carter Lee, KillerMuffin and Heavystick to name a few.

I then even tried to lower the heat by removing myself from THREADMASTERSHIP by appointing the lovely Gabby to the post. Still many in AHland wouldn’t accept that votes received were important.

However many others did! Nine years later there are over a thousand 1000 vote stories on the site and the #1 story has over 50,000 votes! And the thread had been viewed over 140,000 times. Below are the words I wrote on the very first post – I think we’ve achieved many of our goals! But we can do even better! I ask again that all our readers take the time and vote on every story they click open. Vote however you like - but please vote!

I have started this thread for the following reasons:

One, to bring to the attention of all LITEROTICANS the most voted on stories in the history of this site in the hopes that new readers will be found for these great stories.

The Second (and more important goal) is to provoke FEEDBACK on these stories, both on this thread and also directly to the authors themselves via VOTES, E-MAILS and PUBLIC COMMENTS. Please feel free to post your feedback here.

Thirdly I hope the thread will encourage feedback on other stories. Perhaps the #1 complaint of all Literotica authors is the lack of feedback they receive on their stories. The listed stories prove that it is possible to get feedback on this site. Every story listed has been able to garner the attention and feedback from over 1000 readers! Before complaining about lack of feedback perhaps our authors should read some of these stories and try to learn how some of the greatest authors have managed to garner feedback.

Yes this thread was started on August 26th 2007. It proved popular! And as time went by we heard from many readers asking us if we could also start a MOST COMMENTED ON STORIES list.

At first we didn’t want to. It was a heck of a lot of extra work for my already fully occupied staff. In fact I’d already contacted both LAUREL and MANU and first asked them, then begged them to make official LITEROTICA lists for both most votes and most comments. All you have to do is push a button and presto you have the list I told them. Then all this sniping from the cheap seats would end and we’d all live happily ever after.

They sounded interested, said they liked the idea, but that since they were in the middle of a site update that for the present they couldn’t comply with my request. But that once they’d completed the upgrade they would consider it. That was over 8 years ago. I’ve asked them many more times over the years. I’ve never been given a definite no but only that they’d reexamine the issue once MANU had caught up…

So on the 24th of February 2009 (and after having received over 500 posts and 60,000 views on the original thread) we created a new thread, the MOST COMMENTS RECEIVED list thread.

Readers were ecstatic! They flocked to this new thread just as they had to the MOST VOTES one. Joy reigned supreme on the Story Feedback forum. Oh there were some critics, the same old gang of naysayers that have always lived on the forums. And some ugly ‘duplicated many times’ posts were continually made by people like misshick, the dumbtexan and the odious one.

But their rants didn’t bother us at ScouriesWorld nor did it bother the fans who continued to visit the threads.

However, on November 29th 2014, after years of relative peace on the two threads and with an ever growing popularity, out of the blue LAUREL moved the threads from the StoryFeedback forum to AHland. With no explanation to I or the threads fans.

WTF! So why did she do it? The MOST VOTES thread had been around for over seven years by then and the MOST COMMENTS one for five and a half years. By then the two combined had over 175,000 views!

At one point later on she suggested that they were moved because they weren’t story feedback threads. WTF! Votes? Comments? That’s not feedback? She must have been blushing when she tried to sell that yarn! I personally believe she was trying to get me going – to generate a little excitement for her amusement.

It didn’t work!!!! For one thing I was spending a decreasing amount of time here on LITEROTICA (due to both business and health issues) and two, we were quite happy to go to AHland as there were more people there. So our viewership numbers continued to climb.

Life was again good … everyone was happy…

Here’s what I wrote on the first post of the MOST COMMENTS thread (now buried as post #522 on this thread (sounds like a StoryFeedback thread to me!):

I’d like to appeal to our readers directly: please ladies and gentlemen – send us your comments and feedback. Tell us what you thought of our stories (whether good or bad). The only way we can improve is by hearing what you think.

Well we finally got the list updated! A couple of weeks late but I think that’s understandable under the circumstances. We weren’t able to get all stories updated (for example we’re still waiting to hear from the sites most “favorited author” silky but apparently there has been a huge snowstorm that fell on our northern neighbor and electricity and mobile services are down across much of that frigid land) but we are quite happy to go with what we have.

The most interesting number (and an almost unbelievable one!) is that three stories got exactly the same number of new votes between jan and july this year – 1563. They are the #1, #5 and #8 stories on the list.

So here they are…

p.s. we will be starting on the “most comments” list next week and should have it up and running by mid August…

Yes this thread was started on August 26th 2007 in the StoryFeedback forum. Then, more than seven years later, on the 29th of November 2014 they were unceremoniously moved to the AHland! As I said in Part 2 we at ScouriesWorld neither complained nor made any comment. We’ve found over the years here that readers find what they’re looking for even when attempts are made to fool them.

We didn’t spend much time in AHland over the next year – instead our staff just went about their jobs and updated the lists on a quarterly and semiannual basis. Because that is the point of the threads! To let interested parties know which stories are amassing the most votes over time.

And our thread viewing numbers continued to grow exponentially. By the end of 2015 the Most Votes list had over 135,000 views and the newer, younger Most Comments list had over 78,000 views. They were the two most popular threads in AHland.

Which is unusual in this forum as any observer can tell you. Unfortunately the forum has fallen on hard times with thread after thread being opened and then quickly dying after receiving a minimal number of replies and virtually no views (the jimmy Johnson effect?). So, in a way, it was our two threads that were carrying the forum. Everyone should have been happy!



But the old trickster wasn’t through yet! No sirree…

In January 2016, just days after the two threads had been updated with yearend 2015 numbers she struck again. WTF is she up to?

We had been away from the forums since the last update so we hadn’t noticed this nefarious action until the young and lovely Jacqui noticed it when she reentered the forum in late June to update the numbers.

And no, no one, in the 8+ years these threads have existed ever made a suggestion as silly as the one that was recently made by the QUEEN “As these threads contain nearly identical content… they have been combined” (MVL thread Jan 2016)”
I’m afraid the QUEEN was confusing content with presentation. The lists are presented in a similar manner but the content of the lists is completely different. One shows the LITEROTICA stories that have received the most votes while the other shows stories that have received the most comments. Two completely different things! As just about every one of the some quarter of a million viewers to the two threads understood. Except her apparently… and supposedly it took her seven and a half years to discover that they had “nearly identical content”…

So is this combining of threads a pretty normal happening around here? Does the QUEEN do it so often that she just made an inadvertent mistake?

NOT EXACTLY!!!!
In fact over the past twenty years and the opening of some 900,000 threads on the site it has never happened before!!!!! WHAT!!!!

So the bottom line is that she’s fucked up the two most popular threads in AHland for reasons she only knows…

And of course the big question is why?​

And so of course neither he nor the QUEEN (also soo, sooo busy with her new mod duties) have been able to inaugurate the long promised list of those stories that have received the most comments over the long glorious history of LITEROTICA.

A list that visitors to the site have been clamoring for since at least 2005! So, unasked we have stepped into the breach to provide this service to all LITEROTICANS until the Palace has the time to meet our readers desires. And we’re doing it even though we’re receiving no recompense from these warm human beings. How could we ask for money after all the support and help and fame their site has brought us. So lets all bow our heads and whisper a prayer of thanks to…
