Shortly before Letter from America bit the charts, my girlfriend at the time dragged me to see the Housemartins. They were appalling, but were supported by The Proclaimers who blew me away with their harmonies, witty lyrics and sheer energy. I still adore them now, but haven't listened to them for a long while.
