Body positive healthy living.

I wouldn't be able to walk with out the kids unless I walked with out hubby too, and we all want to go on the walks. It's fun family time. I push a stroller as I walk too, for what it's worth. Its a double stroller so I could push both kids, but I want my son to ride his bike. He has so much energy and he makes the stroller too heavy. :p

ETA: I'll look for that app too. So many apps to help, its great.

Pushing the stroller surely helps burning calories, but as far as I know, and according what I've read (I'm not a doctor or specialist on human metabolism, I want to say this up front) the thing about exercising on short periods is that our body doesn't burn our fat first when needing energy. The first thing our body does is using the glucose stored in the liver as a source of energy. After a while (a lot of studies places this "while" on 20 minutes) the body starts to burn fat as energy source. So what it's better for fat burn is first to exercise longer, and then more intense.

Oh yes! The fat is stored in the cells in form of triglycerides which consist of a molecule formed from glycerol and three fatty acids. This molecule is too big to escape the cell, so the body needs to break it down, pushing apart the glycerol and the fatty acids. Estrogen and Testosterone are a huge help to this process, so... having sex, masturbating or even getting horny are excellent exercises to loose weight!! :D

Where do you get that My fitness app tool ?

I have an Android phone, I just searched for it in the market on my phone. I found a bunch of fitness apps, I'm testing them out to see which is my favorite.

I also downloaded it from the Google Play Apps store but what I like it keeps a history of the items that you eat often and then if you have packaged food you can barcode scan it and it will enter it into your log for you which is super easy!

I just forgot to mention earlier that if you walk or exercise a HRM is great for helping you watch your heart rate so you can get optimal burn/payout. It can help you get an idea of how many calories you burned which I love.

Take a look at it. It has helped me to lose 75 pounds and to keep it off. It's free, and it's really easy (much much easier than ww), and it's about life-style, not dieting.
Wow! Congratulations on losing and keeping off the weight! That is wonderful!

Interesting information on metabolism and exercise, thanks!

I love that second part... getting horny is healthy and good for you. Hear that class, just being on Lit is good for your diet. :p

I like the barcode scanner.. I had started using a different calorie tracker that has one too.. so nifty! I used to spend so much time recording and calculating nutritional information on paper before. Those smart phones are amazing.

Another good tip.. thanks!

I think for me, I've been out of the swing of healthy living for so long, I have a lot of bad habits to break and a long way to go. I'm not going to be able to start doing so many new things at once. Right now my goals are simple. We are going on vacation soon so between now and when we get back I want to play with the different apps and figure out what works for me. The first full week when we are back I want to seriously start. Not to say I'm going to go buck wild on vacation or anything or anything crazy. I'm going to keep walking and eating smaller portions and get used to journaling food again. Then I'll have a start date to get serious with journaling every bite I eat and exercising regularly. I've heard it takes three weeks to set a new habit, so every three weeks I'll add something new.

Since getting all horny is good for us.. here's some yummy hot sweaty sex. :D

Keep it up ..........think mostly alot of fitness lends itself to horniness lol !!

Good luck stay positive.

I think the big step is doing it. I finally just did it last year and got into a gym and did portion control. I switched to diet drinks and ugh.. Water. I lost 30 pounds. I have a waist again! Hard part now is not going back to bad habits.

I'm huffing and puffing away with you!

Dont forget though that you dont have to join a gym, there is a whole world out there, get a decent pair of trainers, and do it little at first, then build up to your fitness goals

good luck with it ...remember though ...I like to have a day of running or training or whatever ........also though rest in between is very important, also eat healthily, and keep yourself hydrated ....!!

That is a.great goal.. to add something new each week.. like so many have said.. it can't be viewed as a diet but a change in lifestyle and doing what works for you. I love the changes I've made and there is still more I could do to eat healthier, and for.me that the next step.. gradually making small changes that will ultimately get me to where I want and on my terms

A few people mentioned breakfast.. for me its typically Orange juice and some form of breakfast bar.. nutrigrain, fiberone, or whatever I happen to have bought that week.

Ill echo what's been said about the Hrm... Great tool that helps you work wihin the most productive aerobic zones. That combined with the mapmyfitness app I use to map and measure my excersise gives me lots of data to see and track progress
Someone wanted to know where to get it... That one is in the appstore and android market .. also on their website.. mapmyfitness.com

Keep it up Sweetness and everyone else!

what do you have in mind? :)

Well, if there were enough working on losing weight we could see who losses the highest percentage of weight during a given time frame. Just for fun, of course, I wouldn't want it to cause hard feelings.

We could do an exercise one where we try to stick to an exercise plan for so long and see who keeps up with it. Everyone would exercise at their own level and really just be competing against their own self goals.

Dont forget though even if you do fall off the wagon, dont give up just for one case of weakness .........take it, put up with it, get back on that wagon and keep trying !!

You hqve a good idea here.... Maybe start a spinoff thread or use this one where everyone can do an initial post with whatever their goals are..or whatever they care to share.. that'll also serve to record a start date.. then whenever work out, measure, weigh in, whatever post an update to the thread. I.e. 'waked a mile today.. tough but I did it' and
Or ,'down 2 pounds this week'. It would sort of provide motivation seeing others activities and succeeds. At the end of the week or month, whoever had most pounds, inches, most activity would be recognized...

the first 10 pounds are the easiest to go. and will keep you motivated! :)

I do eat pretty healthy - yogurt and fruit for breakfast, usually soup or salad for lunch and a healthy dinner with veggies.

Two problems - little exercise and I like a couple or three cocktails/beers in the evenings.

In my 20's/30's I ran a lot but now my knees can't take it. I bought a really nice rowing machine on CL, but haven't been too good at using it regularly. This is where I need some discipline. That and the cocktail thing
