Passenger plane shot down?

From what I've read, neither Ukrainian and pro-Russian rebel forces have the capability to take down a plane at that altitude. NATO logs all missile activity in that area. I'm thinking Russia are the only ones with the tech to do this, thinking it was a Ukrainian supplies plane.

There are plenty of man-portable anti-aircraft weapons that could take down an airliner, and it goes without saying that all the potential culprits would have access to that kind of weaponry.

That said, I highly doubt that anyone that was likely the culprit would purposefully shoot down a passenger liner, if that's indeed what happened.

Hopefully this gets straightened out quickly, because this combined with the middle east flare-ups does not bode well.

The whole region is on the brink of descending into larger scale conflict.
