Steam punk?

I think it is important to remember the dystopian elements of the "___punk" genre.

The very strong basis that whilst technology makes the lives of the wealthy near perfect, the poor struggle, living in cramped, low quality living spaces with the daily threat of crime and violence and the only real way to make enough money to jump that huge divide between rich and poor is to turn to serious crime.

The reason Steampunk works so well, in my view, is that the Victorian era was already very much like that.

Okus it is only a small step of the imagination to progress the sudden technological leap of the industrial revolution to more complex machinery of clockwork calculating machines and steam-powered industrial robots.

Which reminds me, there is actually a wordless webcomic (For sale, so the link is disabled per Literotica's forum rules.) - Chester 5000 XYV - about a Victorian inventor who creates a robot to take care of his insatiable new wife's sexual needs...
