Yes, I have always had an interest in Japanese Shunga and have several books on the topic. I suppose that I do not see the exaggerations as "comical", rather as a visual metaphor for how the subjects (and viewer) are so focused on their sex (the action and the anatomy). On the other hand, some Japanese art of the same period and style is taken about 30 steps further just for comedy, for example anthropomorphized penises as sumo wrestlers.
I really like the first two versions too, have a wonderful sense of 'longing' in them. Still beautiful images even if that wasn't what they had in mind.
I didn't know that style was called 'Shunga'. And I didn't mean the art was 'comical' as it's beautiful, I guess I should have said 'metaphorically oversized' penises.
I still enjoy your take on the style, always erotic.
