Just found out I got 9th place in a big short-short story competition. Since there were almost 10,000 entries, I feel pretty darn good about it. I get $100, some books and the story gets published in an anthology.

Just found out I got 9th place in a big short-short story competition. Since there were almost 10,000 entries, I feel pretty darn good about it. I get $100, some books and the story gets published in an anthology.

Today my work day had hardly begun when the UPS guy came to the door with a large box. Inside is a Maine dinner for two: clam chowder, steamer clams, and a pair of lobsters. It was sent by my very thoughtful siblings. No need for takeout pizza tonight!

Thanks and nope. It was, however, inspired by a post on this board. I don't recall the name of the poster (I don't believe he's a regular) but he had fallen on hard times. One day he posted that for the first time in his life he had gone looking through trash for food and it was obviously a heart breaking and ego-challenging moment.
I tried to imagine what that would be like and...a story came out.

My mums reaction when I told her 'this man makes me feel happy'
(yeah...its been a while lol and it feels so good.)
