I may have to give you your own special poets corner and chair.'
As long as it has a good view over Colly and Lucky on the bar, then I'm happy.

Done.

Now back to the Topic of the Day....no art lovers?:(

My apologies Colly, I overstepped my posts.
Kinkead is very nice, but I fear becoming too commericial for moi.

He's very commercial. Not national gallery material, but his works look good in my little appartment :)

Well maybe some day when I get my thumb out of my ass and start painting again, I'll send you one of mine.;)

Yes. Art. I am drawn to the Dadaists and Warhol, or with avant-gardist filmmakers, but I could talk at length about painting, but I know how you detest wordy Canadians, so will let others do the talking.

I second the snaps for Liar'.

:)

Elitist :)

To up the commersialism even further, I'd like to add HR Giger and Rodney Matthews to the list.

For more classic stuff: Anna Ancher.

In my adolescence I identified with Toulouse-Lauatrec and his women models. I wrote a piece of juvenilia about him that inclcuded the line, "the little monster of my soul". I love his colors, brushwork and ambience. He made garishness beautiful and heartbreaking. A highlight of my teens was seeing his work in person in Chicago, later in NY. For similar reasons I also love his lithographs.

Afternoon all.

A black coffee please. Sorry about the the dark poem last night. I was drunk. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Before you ask, the date has been moved to Wednesday night. There is a Fringe Theatre Festival playing in town. The director and I haggled a bit about what to see, and we settled on Inanna.

A quick blurb:
Inanna battles the hairy enkum creatures while out-drinking the god of wisdom and luring the great warrior Gilgamesh into the folds of her desire. Throw in music of a middle-eastern flare and dancing of the belly persuasion and you have Inanna. 6000 years in the making, this astonishing tale is finally unveiled in an explosive outdoor adventure._

Sounds like it should be fun.

I apologize for my overly poor comment of wordy Canadians, please share with us.

Now I look over at Colleen and lucky and ask the eternal existential question.

"Why are all the interesting ones either taken or playing for the other team?"

Sigh.

I too love Toulousse. His use of color is brilliant.

I do love Jules bastian Lepage's "Joan of Arc" I sat in front of it for the longest time at the met. His depiction of her as a young girl and not a warrior clad in armor enthralled me.

The painting I spoke of....Not the best, but nothing is as great as seeing the original.

Here’s your black coffee, rg.
There was a spoon in there, but it ate it.

Hey Abs, can I give the Canadians a discount,
or do I hafta figure out the exchange?

Who wanted the ball gag? I need a five-dollar deposit.

I think the “Thumb-in-the-Ass” school might be the next New Wave in Abstract Art . . . . . . just to prove I’m not a dead loss in these culture debates.

Whew Virtual, what would I do without you?

Don't kiss those Canadians asses or they get badder attitudes, there's a conversion chart behind the counter.

You're very cultural love, I'll be looking for you when the topic is Bawdy films and Burlesque.

I just dropped by for that cuppa you said you had for me.

*slurp*

Ahhh, that's better!

Cheers, babe!

Lou

I was fortunate to see Van Gogh in Philly a few years back, he was with Gauguin, who isn't one of my favs. But the exhibit was great and so was the museum. Saw my first Maxwell Parrish there.
