Another version of this thread made the mandated maximum number of posts. Amazing how that happens.


Except for one post on it, which shall live in Infamy for the duration of Lit and all the knuckleheads who post here. Knuckleheads is an HD Term of Endearment, so no knotting up your knickers.


As this has been since the dawn of whenever, a blurt thread. We talk about Hemis, Mopars, laugh at Fords, Toyotas even, coins, yardwork, other word, eating out, cooking bacon, 'Murrikun made motorsickles, housepets, houseplants, politix - sometimes . . . whatever. The more outrageous, the more better.


No rules, really. Just don't quote the asstrash that most of the other posters, historically, have on iggy. Oh, and post nekkid bewbs whenever possible. And knife-wielding babeh dux . . . and naughty bears . . . and b'ar chili . . . .

Let me throw out an alternative to the 375 H&H, the 375 Weatherby. Both are pricey to shoot (unless you do your own reloading) but the Weatherby has an edge in the performance category. Food for thought.

Had to close off a section of the range today, some clandestine types are coming in from DC for training. Specialists not normally deployed with the operational knuckle draggers. An interesting change in operational policy.

For those that are following the thread and may be interested, I switched to Magnum primers and dropped the powder load by a grain on the 5.56. The velocity remained the same but the groups tightened up by almost .5 MOA. The heftier powder ignition seems to improve consistency. This has me wondering if I'd get the same results with my other rifles. I think I'll try with the 25-06 first.

The 375 Weatherby is a blown out 300 H&H, but you are right about throwing the 375 H&H into a Weatherby.

The 25-06 is kinda a nether fish nor fowl cartridge. I keep it around because it's the first rifle I built up myself on a La Corona Mauser action. It started life with a 29" barrel that was trimmed down and recrowned until the harmonics matched up (26.5"). It'll drive nails out to 500 yds, but how often do you get a 500 yd shot on a white tail? It's more than adequate on Mulies out to 300 but I have other rifles that will do a better job at that range. Then you get into the bullet choices. <shrug> More of a wall hanger now but I still take it out and shoot it from time to time.

The 25-06 would be fine for deer in southeast, sheep, or caribou, but there's always the chance of running into big brown furry and ugly when in the field, and sometimes, he's not in a good mood. I usually never carry more than one centerfire so it has to be good for whatever.

Home. Grazing. It was some warmer today.


The inspection with/from/featuring Teh Wheelz went not as well as last month's but so much more gooder'n it could have. We still have a handful of goodies we need to get a handle on, but there's a lot less st00opid shit than what we had to unfuck in the first building. Still . . . we turn 'em out . . . .


I'll be bailing this motherfucker tomorrow for a couple of daze off. Of course, and those who regularly read this gripe already know . . . yes, that's right . . . it's going to fucking rain!!! If I stay here, it's going to rain, too. At home, I can nap the weekend away in my own bed with my own cats. There's leftover chili, too.


T'ain't no b'ar innit, care or otherwise . . . .

The rain is outside, which is a good place for it if one has to have some. Apparently, it's our weekend in the barrel.


A couple of more days in the old building, and then we're full-time in the third one. It needs to turn this year. It's already ahead of where we were on the second one, methinks.

Morning Wat.

Rain forecast for later today with snow forecast off and on starting tonight through Sunday night. No accumulation to speak of at this altitude. A few inches or more up in the mountains.

Off to the Friday AM breakfast and debrief a bit later. Gotta make sure ICE is still meeting its deportation quota's. :)

The recent imports are getting it done, for the most part. There are, of course, the usual St000pid Mistakes. They are just part-n-parcel of the industry, it seems.
