mews
/myo͞oz/
noun
BRITISH
a row or street of houses or apartments that have been converted from stables or built to look like former stables.
a group of stables, typically with rooms above, built around a yard or along an alley.
Mews - the authentic ones instead of fabricated - are very cool and all that, but they're real old school and getting pretty scarce to find in the age of encroaching glass towers with no character. Don't think they'll be making a style comeback or takeover anytime soon. But if I had some starchitect power, I'd be making these happen again!
The ones here are owned by trust-funder families with deep-dish roots. I'd need some Gates money to break into them gigs.
