I'm just dumping a few of my poems (well, maybe a lot) of the past here. They'll be pasted from text files without regard to editing or appearance and I may or may not come back and fix the content of each post. My main objective is to get these off the storage disc and into this thread for later leisurely perusal.

Zodiac Poems

Aries, In Martian Red

Arian perfection sets him apart from
Riotous battles within his heart.
Is it bravery or is it temper?
Ever a warrior finding courage to
Stand, ever beloved, beside him.

*************************

Taurus Spring

The beauty that is Hathor's own,
Found in the blooms of May,
Is counted in the godly horde
where Zeus' son makes play.

Both Minotaur and child of Ra
You rise there in our sight.
A home of muse and pleasures
God and goddess of the night.

Would that you could always be
The placid, stolid one
But bullish nature make's your heat
As fiery as the sun.

Great Taurus, eye of the sun,
We watch you in the sky,
Assured that you will always see
Foolish mortals passing by.

*************************

Gemini Lost

If I tell you that in our May
We've found our twin,
Hunger will cease its gnawing
At our entrails?

My soul,
fill in the hollows and
Brighten up my day.
I have been starving.

Out in the stars
They walk hand in hand,
Two so close that life
Is eternal play.

One born alone is asked,
To walk
Forever
Searching for the one lost.

Out there.

Blessed be!
Hearts' joy will
Soar us to the heavens.

Where a twinning waits.

************************

Cancer's Devotion

The goddess called and you
Threw your life into the fray
To be crushed.

Brave
Fool

Only you could find harmony
In being so changing
Like the moon.

Tiny
Greatness

July's child of summer awash
In the sea of confusion
You died for her.

Foolish
Bravery

***********************

Leo Sun

The mane of the lion colors all in gold
When August heat burns over the land.
The sun in regal robes of blue
Shines brightly in the sky.

It was not vanity which declared
The glorious Sun King's right to rule.
For did not his beauty outshine
The moon rivalled only by our Sol?

Leo with your brave heart so true
A foe worthy of your place,
Beside Hercules who has gained
Divinity, as heroes only may.

(edit stuff)
The mane of the lion colors all in gold
When the heat of August burns over the land.
The sun in regal robes of blue
Will burn brightly in the sky.

The mane of the lion burnishes
All in gold and August heats the land.
The sun in regal robes of blue
Burns brightly in the sky.

Virgo Doubts

Let me inside your great reserve,
Oh lover of the sun.
I want to take you far
Outside yourself.

Fear not the fading of the rose,
Or the heartbreak of another.

If truth lives
Within love's heart,
Then time will allow
Your ancient soul
To join the sun again.

Don't take all that time to analyze
What may never stir the air.
Drop your list and breathe,
Where risk exists
There's dirt here
I can use to muddy that logic.

Forgive the lesser of we two.
Permit me to,
Live up
To your expections.

Make your mark on Earth,
After you come down to it
And join me here
In heaven.

***************************

Libra of Balance

The scales of Justice are true
Balanced on a sapphire
In a virgin's hand.
Harmony and peace
Rule over your glimmering light
Venus, true blue, in the evening sky.

Bear not guilt's burden
Carried deep within your heart
Come light as a feather.
With truth and right
Lifting your soul to abide in
The Fields of Peace.

***************************

Scorpio Revealed

Tell me, if a secret must be kept
is it a secret once it's shared?
No matter where you seek to hide,
I see your heart's light burning bright,
A secret kept no more.

Fools talk of love and possession
in the same breath.
Own to it now and realize,
To reveal the nature of your dreams,
is to have them come true.

You leave me flayed and raw after
the experience of your love.
Such intensity in your sting
That you burn through me
Long after you've left.

Trust me now inside your heart
where your secrets all are kept.
I promise that I will not crush
This gift of love so freely shared,
A secret kept no more.

***************************

Sagittarius, Our Guide

Noble heart, don't you hate duty?
Fettered by the chains of
Love and gratitude,
Where lies your one great wish?

Out there beyond the setting sun
You keep your aim tight on your mark.
Fidelity in abundance
But patience wears a thin cloak
And the night grows chill.

Show me what you know.
It's there, just beyond my ken,
I feel it warm and pulsing.

This pain shatters my soul that
You so nobly bear it.
Welcoming the wound so dire,
That we all may learn from it.

Remember!

We must be burned ourselves to
profit from the fire.
Wherein lies the beauty of a rose,
If none has seen the fading curl
Of crumbling petals
That comes before?

Guide our eye to that bright star
That we may see, with you,
The hope of our future
Lies not at the center of the night
But in the heart of a faithful soul.

Capricorn Power

Miserable old goat, you. Sit
at the head of your mahogany
Board of Directors. You work
so very hard for your progeny.

Horny old goat, you. Love
in the silken sheets of your
youthful mistress' bed. She's
so greedy, always wanting more.

Sage old goat, you. Impart
your wisdom upon the vacuous heads
that just don't appreciate what
you have learned in their mothers' beds.

Tired old goat, you. Try
to pass through time and leave
us enriched, so in winter's night,
as you journey from the sky, we grieve.

****************************

The birth of the sun marks the end of the night
The dawn of the Son hails the start of the right.

Blinded by stars there in the sky
Winter watchers see Pan passing by.

Take heed of his passage, he's wearing his scales
That even bright Venus, beside him, now pales.

The floodgates of the Milky Way, tired of the dreary wait,
Burst open upon the desert plain, sere fields to inundate.

God, by offering His Son's birth in the night,
Lights humanity's path with an unfailing right.

Offer your prayers and burn sweet incense.
For Pan's in the sky and the night is immense.

Is your heart in the heavens over love's highest peak
Or adrift in depths of lust too dark which to speak?

True to your bloodlines you'll keep them close by
And always watch over them from your place in the sky.

****************************

Capricorn Waits

Your reward rests at the apex
of your spiralling climb
giddy with dizziness
as you twist along
the narrow path.

The slope, strewn with hazards
that will test your loyalty
falls away out into cloud
Celebrate the the family bonds.
Keeping your dear ones upon
the narrow path.

As you look over the precipice
from your vantage of giddy heights,
Cast your awareness down into
those spinning vortices
of swirling depth.

The pattern is repeated yet again.
A fractal form as it turns outward
Ever pulling inward in the pattern
of the dance and the colors
of swirling depth.

******************************

Aquarius Bright

On the other side of midnight's curtain
Enraptured by you, my harbor,
I am the ship you sail on.

Pour the star flood
Of the Milky Way
Out on the desert of our ignorance
Drowning hatred in the water bearer's
Soothing tide.

Enlighten me as I wait,
Enraptured by you, my harbour
On the other side of midnight's curtain.

***************************

Pisces Deep

Upon the river from which all life springs
Love and Beauty flee the beast
That they shall never perish
In the titanic fire of the dragon.

I see them in your smooth countenance
A portrait of the heart
Denying none your succour
Your healing waters a gift to all.

Deep soul you swim against the current
In your empathy we find
That all that touches us is felt
Upon the smooth surface of your scales.

Grant us the harmony which we seek
In your pool, cool and deep
We know we'll find a pure love so true
That only beauty can come of it.

Sparks

Lie down with me on cool grass,
look up into the sky.
I'll whisper you a story --

A woman peered through the night
seeing more than flames
at the fire on her hearth.
A spark flew up higher than sight lost,
along a stream of milk, from Gaia's breasts.

Come drift with me in starlit time
we'll rest in Machu Pichu,
counting how long the spark has lived
with our condor's eyes and serpent's scales

Straight, on a heavenly path, we'll fly
to Ramses' chamber, deep inside the stones.
Hathor promises the floods will come
to save the children of Ra
bringing them, swimming, home.

Look north and east, we'll speed to Sumer
and antiquity's kindoms, hidden from conscious
memory but striking sparks on ancient stone.
Fables of a nation, who built a tower high.
Audacity and bitumen would take them
to the sky and there, they'd touch the stars.

God is jealous of his domain,
the stars His sentinels.
Vanity's tower was cast from heaven
and the landing sparked confusion,
in the minds of men.

Look up and listen to myths answering
the questions asked the stars.
Heroes and gods living, immortal,
atop the highest mountain peak,
or placed in a goddess' tapestry to sparkle,
against midnight's mistress' skin.

Copernicus bit his tongue and held close
the spark of truth he'd found. His prayers
answered, centuries gone, when the world
could bear the news that we are not the center
and the universe does not revolve around mankind.

Galileo's furnace blasted sand. His hands
polished a lens, the grinding sparking stardust.
Mankind could see, without doubt, the truth
still remained shrouded in mystery.

The stars will still be there tomorrow
and the spark, shining in your eye,
confirms my notion, even though we lie
down on cool grass, our souls sail
along a stream of milk, from Gaia's bre

The Waltz
(interlocked rubiyat, like the pattern of the dance)

My heart pulses in three-four beat,
Sets my toes a-tapping on dancing feet,
When he waltzes me round in glittering swirl,
The music and magic around us meet.

Breathless I spin in a rhythmic twirl,
We float round the room in a blurring whirl,
At the end I collapse in a heated swoon,
My love has dizzied his befuddled girl.

I hear Strauss's music, a lilting tune,
That sings to my heart and I know that soon,
My lover will kiss me with lips so sweet,
'Neath the midnight sky and a winter's moon.

Quick change of pace, a short - almost flash fic vignette

Welcome Home.

Her – She rushed around the house putting final touches on everything. It had to be perfect! Looking at the clock she hummed anxiously, "Oh he's gonna be here and I'm not ready!" She placed the wine glass she held in her hand on the table. It looked beautiful. Ready for dinner later, much later. The table was set for eight and she was looking forward to sharing the day with her family and friends, but right now, at this moment there was only one person in the world she waited for.

Again she looked at the clock, almost twenty-five after. Just a moment before, the hands seemed to be racing around the dial, now, the pendulum seemed to defy physics as it scribed its arc so slowly, it seemed it would stop. The phone rang startling her. It was him! He was only about ten minutes away from home. "Yes Baby! I can't wait to see you either!" she hung up.

She rushed into the bedroom and tore her robe off, dropping it on the floor. She looked in the mirror and pulled the pins from her hair letting it cascade over her shoulders as she shook it out. She chose her cologne and dabbed only the smallest amount at her pulse points, she knew his preference for just her scent but the quiet back note of citrus had always pleased her and these next few moments were for both of them.

Satisfied that she was ready, she lit the candles on the dressing table. Turned on the sultry voice of Diana Krall and turned around . . .

Him – He fidgeted in the back seat of the cab. He regretted that he'd told her not to come to the base to pick him up. But he knew that she had so much to do today, getting ready for their family Thanksgiving, that he'd insisted she stay home and he'd take the taxi. Now he silently cursed the driver for obeying the traffic laws and stopping at every red light. He couldn't resist it and called her on his cell. "Hello Baby, we just turned of the expressway and I'll be home in a few minutes. I wanted to hear your voice so badly that I just had to call."

He couldn't believe it! She hung up on him! He held a ten out to the driver. "Get me there in five minutes!" The driver floored it as he turned off the main thoroughfare. He chuckled as they sped towards home and her . . .

The car pulled up in the drive a scant three minutes later and he threw more money at the driver. He grabbed his kit bag and went in through the garage, dropping his gear as he moved past the car. He went into the kitchen and saw her well-organized preparations for dinner. He smiled, she always was an early riser and today, the only exception was how early. It was only 9:30 a.m. and she already had the table ready. He smiled amazed. She'd probably been up since six getting all this going. His thoughts flashed quickly through his mind as he started to unfasten his shirt. Damn he hated the cuffs! They always caught on his watch. His clothes marked his passage down the hall until at last he saw her. She turned around...

Her – "Baby! How'd you get home ...?" she stopped speaking when she noticed his boxers still caught on his ankle and his socks still on. Suppressing a giggle she ran into his arms and pulled his lips down to hers. She gave him a long, loving kiss full of gladness to see him home. He picked her up and walked towards their big bed, kicking his underwear off as he went. She laughed as she watched it happen in the full length mirror along the wall.

Him – He felt his groin tighten when her eyes moved over his body. She stood there, unconsciously beautiful. Her hair swinging around her as she moved gracefully to face him. She looked delicious in her nude glory. Her breasts, high on her chest, tipped by rosy pink nipples, seemed to demand a man's attention. Her stomach was lean and her waist narrow, creating curves he couldn't wait to trace. He watched as her flank muscles rippled beneath her skin, rounding her hips, flaring smoothly over her pelvis.

She spoke and her voice broke in a barely concealed chuckle. He watched her amusement and looked at his feet. Meeting her eyes, he grinned goofily and caught her in his arms as she leapt. He raised her slight form up, against his chest and with her legs draped over one arm he carried her to their bed, kicking his boxers off his foot as he went.

He looked down at her, lips twitching,"Grrr, you li'l shit! You hung up on me! Just as I was gonna tell you to get naked too." He laughed, "Oh Baby I missed you! I knew you'd be waiting for me, I just wanted to hear your voice." His lips met hers hungrily and he sat down on the bed with her across his lap.

Her – She kissed him with all the emotion she'd been saving since he'd left. Hanging off him she pulled him over her as she moved onto the bed. His weight welcome as he stretched out, his large frame over her more delicate one. They spent glorious moments exploring each other's lips. Tasting tongues as they stroked sensually over each other. She held him close to her with all her strength never wanting to let him go.

"I love you and I need you so much!" she told him fiercely, her face only inches from his. She felt the sting of tears and blinked rapidly to clear her eyes. Her breath caught in her throat as his lips kissed her lashes and then traced lightly over her temples to nuzzle her ear.

Him – Her kisses were so sweet to him. He swallowed her offering like a thirsty man drinks. He tasted her mouth, minty from her favorite tea. He smelled her scent, loving the natural lightness of her, smiling at her choice of cologne. He drew back and when she told of her love, the tenderness washed through him. Grabbing his heart in a velvet vise.

He kissed her eyes and tasted the salty tang of her tears. Moving his lips along her skin he buried his face in her hair. He whispered in her ear, "Sweet Baby, I love you too."

He lifted his weight off her and sat back up, she protested briefly. He pulled his socks off and returned to the loving embrace of his wife. He was thankful to be home.

Wind's Fingers

Motionless waiting, without a breeze
to spin the cobwebs with wind's fingers,
into one silken thread.

Meadows larksong lifted in the morning light,
as the dew lifts from the clover,
shaded beneath the wildrose in bloom.

My smile of gladness
greets my daydream,
while wind's fingers
trace hello on my skin

Motionless waiting, without a lover
to comb my hair with wind's fingers,
smoothing out the night's snags.

Maiden's heartsong lifts to the heavens
as your face invades my thoughts,
hidden beneath a dreamtime shadow.

My smile of happiness
greets my lover,
while wind's fingers
trace love on my skin.

word drops

Each time one forms, I feel it shudder as it passes from
Thought to Being.

We weather out the storms of ideas passing in passion, the
Conception to Reality.

While we sleep, the haze condenses into something clearer than fog, like
Dreams to Wakefulness.

Perhaps, they'll cry or laugh, loving how they feel moving through
Ignorance to Bliss.

Then fall, to wet the stone of learning, the word drops of knowledge hone
Wishing to Fulfillment.

A Solar Year

January

That time of year,
When the season seems,
A neverending grind.
The fist of winter,
The frost of night,
Seize fluid thoughts and
Freeze a liquid mind.

February

Four short weeks
Of a calendar year
Waiting in the snow.
Noon time sun
Moves to the south
One month left to go.

March

A springtime song
Reaches through
Lion's roar or
Lambkin's bleat

This is the time
when winter snows
give way to
springtime sleet.

April

Out of winter's death
Comes the birthing cries of life
Springtime in the north.

May

The gentle sun of a perfect day,
Overflows the month of May.
The bouquets of blooms,
On soldierly tombs,
Honor the ultimate price they pay.

June

The earth has moved through
Half a year.
The longest day awaits,
Ironic, in forty-four,
On June sixth,
The longest day came early.

July

Festoons of red and white
Invading placid patriots
Reaching over great expanses
Seeking out expressions of identity
Truth and justice will always matter.

Full of celebration
Of a nation's brazen birth
Unity of creed and hope
Resounds out over two oceans.
The flag flies high to exclaim
Here we are!

August

So the days of exuberance pass
In the way all summers do
Dog days heat for Englishmen
Out in the noonday sun,
The mad dogs wait
To bite the mailman
And have a bit of fun.

September

Do you feel the taste of frost
That rides in the exhaust
Of the school bus?

When shall the shortening days
Herald the return of fireplace soot
And cozy comforters?

The smell of vinegar and brine
suffuse my granny's kitchen,
And apple jelly essence so thick.
It fills my nostrils,
Making it hard to breathe.

October

A month of fun and ends of things
A month in which we reap,
A month of withered frostbit grass,
Beneath which spring green sleeps.

A month through which the wise prepare,
A month when autumn's crept,
A month when harvest fruits are stored,
While winter has yet slept.

November

The quickening of blood
When the prey has sensed
Its doom

The ache of want within
As your breath is held
So tight

To have exquisite beauty
Majestic and still inside
Your sights

Lower your pulse,
Inhale deeply,
Release.

December

When the early humidity of winter has passed,
And the frost finds its way to your bones,
Right then when you're sick of being cold,
The relentless ice moves in
Uncomfortable when felt inside your nose,
The sting of dessication almost supplants,
The burn of forty below on your skin
You know winter has come.

It calls to you with a tingling voice
To make the best of the darkened days
Follow aurora through the skies
On magic blades you can fly
Across the smoothly flowing ice
Out where few shall ever tread
Revel in the winter wilderness
Celebrate the season

Six O'Clock Passion

With light arising through the gloom,
Thus ends another night,
A dawn of wonder and delight,
A winter flower's morning bloom.
What does a night of ardent sighs,
Hold to your dawning flame?
Wake when your lover calls your name,
With urgent, needful cries.
Meet her kiss with love's desire,
Make her morning glow,
Touch all those places that you know,
Light up her smold'ring fire.
Never domestic, she's here to tame,
Stay in your bed and stake your claim.

A Minstrel's Visit

A moment's pause before I start,
The work I hold near to my heart,
The telling of a story, old,
Of dark ones, evil and champions, bold.

'Tis true I have a tale to tell,
To weave, with words, a magic spell,
Of a world that's cold and even cruel,
Where metaphor's man's greatest tool.

I'll tell of some dark and ragged cloud,
Wrapped round the sky, a burial shroud,
Or whisper songs of springtime larks,
As their mating trills love's splendour sparks.

You wait for the end with hands clasped tight,
Rest easy, now. I'll make it right.
The mystery of language will unfurl,
As from passionate tongue, great words curl.

My story floats through time and space,
Into your heart's and mind's embrace.
There to linger and slowly decay,
Until a new tale's told another day.

Fool

You ask for my silence when my heart wants to scream.
I seem to hang off every word.
Fool that I am, I wait to be heard.

You want my surrender when my brain says stay free.
I hunger for your touch.
Fool that I am, I want you so much.

In mute tension I tremble.
In blind passion I blunder.
In foolish need I cry.

You get all that I have when I have naught to give.
I would give you more it's true.
Fool that I am, I love you.

The Little Boy Blues

He burned with the notes of a melody,
And hoped that maybe this time,
Perhaps he'd find those wished for riches,
Great cities his to plunder.
He laughed as he thought about the blues,
And bid his momma goodbye with a kiss.

One day he hoped to feel a kiss,
Like the notes of a melody,
In the voice of a woman who sings the blues,
In a bar forgotten by time,
His lips hers mercilessly plunder,
In their love, they find their riches.

Maybe love will provide life's sweet riches,
Or maybe wealth's not found in a kiss,
To survive need a man seek plunder?
Death waits its turn in a melody,
It seeks those lovers forgotten by time,
And teaches them the blues.

With the lessons he'd learned he wrote the blues,
His song earned well deserved riches,
His friends had said 'twas a matter of time,
For fortune to grant him a kiss.
It came on the notes of his melody,
A talent was his to plunder.

They made their music and love was their plunder,
The boy kept makin' the blues
The lady sang the notes of a sweet melody,
The wealthy showered them in riches,
Each morn, they retired with their lovers' kiss,
Two souls mated through time.

Would they love forever, to the end of time?
Could wealth and success be their plunder?
Were they satisfied with true love's kiss?
Was happiness found in the blues?
Did they spend their time best with life's great riches?
Did they sing a timeless melody?

A sorrowful melody floats across time,
The sought for riches just empty plunder,
And he found the blues in a woman's kiss.

Gazelle Dust a working title

Your whispered sighs of lover's need rest easy on my heart.
My own desire, within my chest, easy on my heart.

You light a flame that burns white fire, to shine eternally
With your love you ease my breast, easy on my heart.

My fingertips feel the rise of breath, hear a catch inside your voice,
Turn over to me within love's nest, easy on my heart.

I feel a pulse, a throbbing note of a lustful melody,
A rising song of love's bright need, rest easy on my heart.

The heavens watch the earthly grace poetic lovers dance,
the stars reveal their ancient quest, easy on my heart.

We'll drink to love and this poet's needs, fulfilled,
Pay a kingly Ransom that your lips have blest, easy on my heart.

Greatness

Is there a rightness
To the passing of the great?

Perhaps, instead of cures
For all our present ills,
Humanity should seek a way,
To resurrect the great,
Lost in passing.

Who would decide a great soul's name,
For surely a cognomen
Would not determine
Such an effort
On one's behalf?

Who exactly is Catherine the Great?
Would a Caesar be well thought
In these times of enforced democracy?

There are beings who deserve
To continue a life shortened
By frailties of our nature.
Surely, we could agree on those?

A committee,
Of the world's great minds,
Could convene.
These great souls
Would choose great souls.
But,
Who would decide a great soul's name?

Morning Muse

Words flow from me like water,
Each drop insignificant;
Added to the flood,
Dangerous things.

Wondering at their weight,
Some heavy as lead,
Or they're weightless,
Well, almost.

Asked what inspires,
Your laughter,
Wakes my,
Muse.

Tumult

It would have been sweet to be in your hands,
As you brought me through,
The tumultuous lands,
Of my feeling.

To know precisely what it is that shakes,
My world, my dogma, thoughts,
My Earth torn up by quakes,
As I quiver.

I feel the hard tug of erotic tide,
As along your swift thoughts,
Turning, spinning, wild ride,
I am taken.

The Treasure

The first time we spoke I told you that I,
May have been sent you as God's own reply,
To a prayer you had made him, though you never knew.
The want you were feeling, drew me to you.

I reach for a hand held out in the darkness,
Who gives to which? Is one more and one less?
Do I gather you to me or yeild to your power?
Should I stand in your light or hide in a high tower?

I look to my heart to see what I should do,
There's spaces, not answers, where once there was you.
Where is the solution? I seek the right way,
My soul is rending, a price I must pay.

The gifts we are given sometimes are too great,
For one soul to handle, hence they must mate.
A union of thought and of dreams and of fears,
Forged in faith, wrought from truth, tempered in tears.

I am sorry my love to have cut you so deep,
From the seeds of cruel words this crop I now reap.
I've learned now that choices, made in such haste,
Can a life's aspirations and plans lay to waste.

'Tis my turn to ask God my hurt to ease,
To aid me in choice, to guide me, please.
I know with His wisdom and His love devine,
With our patience and hope, things will be fine

Reflection

I spend some time in quiet reflection.
My heart the mirror I regard.
Shattered by this introspection,
What is found in each sharp-edged shard?

In this one here a fragment of time,
When joy was boundless,
A moment at it's highest peak, sublime.
Shared without spite or malice.

Another here reveals dark spaces,
Of sadness hidden and secrets kept,
Feelings numb within these places,
A void, empty and bereft.

A greater portion of ego left whole,
Handle the cutting edge with gloves,
The brightness sourced within my soul,
The shining glimpse of all my loves.

The one poured on me by my mother,
One that heals and soothes each life-earned scar.
Love meant for only just one other,
Be it given in touch or felt from afar.

The peace I find when each is examined,
A tender morsel fed my being,
The completeness as these thoughts are penned,
A sated mortal their expression freeing

August

If the clouds would only bleed,
And pour the loving succor,
Of cool waters onto dry lips,
Drenching parched deserts.

I want the rainwashed spectacle,
Of azure sunrises and,
Magenta sunsets with the night,
Falling midnight blue across the plain.

To see the beauty of the dew spangled morning,
Making magical the sun,
Too early for morning heat to bleach,
The color from the grass.

Yet only your kisses sweet will wet smiles,
With love like rain and touches of dew,
Only passion simmers there beneath,
The hot and sultry darlings of the sun.

60 Watts

Flip the switch,
Let it shine.
Bare bulb.
Frosted.
Frosted my ass.
I still get retina burns.

The way they wrap glass
Around carbon filaments,
Trying for ambience.
I had a light bulb shaped
Silhouette,
In my eye
For an hour.

Food For Thought

Chop Suey Sauce,
It's what's for dinner.
Making me laugh in
My mundane mediocrity.
Advertisements move my
Days forward.

Life seems to stumble ahead,
Magically, despite what we would
Choose.
Despairingly, despite where we would
Go.

Mr. Marketing Whiz Kid,
Where are you in all of this?
Where's the slogan?
Wondering why even this
Hasn't been reduced to 15 seconds
Of mindless newspeak
And clever packaging.

Ah, well. Some things just
Don't sell. I guess.

Girl Guide Cookies

Cellophane wrappers surround my treat,
the package makes it
impossible to rush.

Can I open it without the horrid
ripping that follows
the frantic rip and tear?

Fuck it.

Between my fingers the sound thrills
me as I hear the crinkling
crush of the barrier yeilding.

Ahh, peppermint and chocolate,
the smell of your powerful
flavours excite me.

Want a cookie?

Ahh! French

Move through my senses,
Emulsified little tomato.

Dance upon my tongue,
With a smattering of dijon,
Oui, c'est si bon,
Petit Grey Poupon.

Savoury tart.
Oh yes, sweet.

Pageant Princess

Little missy protege
Standing on the stage
Dressed in frills and ribbons
Acting older than your age.

When you're through being Momma's monkey
And a sophisticated rage
Perhaps they'll take your precocious self
And lock it in a cage.

Perfect tiny dancer
A dolly dressed so sweet
Can we all think that you're just a toy
A pretty sugared treat?

You know that we all love you
Mincing on those little feet
Maybe once you've made us rich
You can hustle on the street.

I have seen you pose and ham it up
A show girl born and bred
If you can't make it on your talent
You can make it sprawled in bed.

There are surgeons to improve your smile
And when youth and looks have fled
There are pimps to hurt and beat you
And rich men for you to wed.

Sell out you little butterfly
Don't let Daddy tie you down
Keep laughing loud right through the hurt
And don't make Momma frown.

You'll have to grow up someday
Keep smiling little clown,
And soon your tits will take the stage
And fill out your pageant gown.

Little missy protege
Are you everything you seem?
Are you Daddy's little golden girl?
Are you Momma's faded dream?

Since when can you be all of that
Like the coffee and the cream?
Are you a twinkling star above
Or a summer's bright sunbeam?

I think I understand you
I see desperation in your fight
You seek to stay in their good grace
To bask in the bright light.

To win this test is something more
Victory's almost in your sight
You can see the key stuck in the door
Releasing you tonight.

But this is all a hollow dream
Much like the empty shell
That they've put all your wishes in
And sent them all to hell.

You know they want what's best for you
And hope all will turn out well
But you know that when it comes down to it
You're what they'll gladly sell.

Dangerous

I've seen the disguise of a dangerous mind
He sheds emotion like the skin of a snake,
And human feeling is left on the path, far behind.

He stares far ahead, down the road that he'll take,
No doubt shadows the gleam in his eye,
He sheds emotion like the skin of a snake.

He never notices the bright blue of the sky,
Waiting, cold, in the darkness that comes with the rain,
No doubt shadows the gleam in his eye.

Seemingly tireless he'll bear any pain,
Any hardship is faced without fear,
Waiting, cold, in the darkness that comes with the rain.

Watch the shadow of the resolved drawing near,
There is purpose in each line on his face,
Any hardship is faced without fear.

No thought of failure will leave even a trace,
I've seen the disguise of a dangerous mind,
There is purpose in each line on his face,
And human feeling is left on the path, far behind.
