We probably are! Mom's family is predominately Welsh with a strong strain of English. She really set the home town on edge when she married an Italian from California. They eventually adjusted to the idea but if he hadn't been a dashing pilot-type, it might have gotten unpleasant.

No matter what your bloodline or ancestry...if you're American in your heart, that's what counts.

I had a few blood relatives serve in WW I, a few more serve in WW II (though they were cousins and fighting for the Germans) but after the turn of the century it seems that my family was largely content to farm.

Whatever money my family had is gone...too many kids to split up the inheritance to and too many nursing homes in the last 30 years.

On my Dad's side, his grand father and great uncle used to be devout Irish Catholic until they got married...then the wives told them flat out that there will be no discussion of politics or religion under their roofs. From that moment on there were no more Catholics in my family and we have all be protestants.
