wh, shorts--an announcement

I plan to post a number of my (Włodzimierz Holsztyński's) short pieces (aphorisms and other, possibly some of my haiku too). I'll present one per post. After some 4-6 shorts I will add a commentary. At least, this is my plan. If I stick to it, a day without my short will not be complete. :)

How nice! It's good to hear good words. Thank you Todski.

BTW, Todski, I bet you that you did not know that 28 is a perfect number. It's the second perfect number. Nobody knows if there are infinitely many of them. And nobody knows if there is an odd perfect number even one odd. And a lot more is not known. But the above two open questions are perhaps the oldest serious open questions ever. I don't think that any of them will be answered during my life.

Lol well im not going to divulge how I acquiired the nick name, but suffice to say it was the perfect number for me :D

As to the concept what is a perfect number comprised of?

All multilayered short pieces senna, on economy i do not understand, the other two have fired off a ream of thoughts

Perfect numbers

[...] gling [...]

Is it English or a typo?

As to the concept what is a perfect number comprised of?

By definition, a positive integer n is called perfect <=:=> the sum of (positive) divisors of n which are smaller than n is equal to n.

The smallest perfect number is 6; indeed, 6 = 1 + 2 + 3. This perfect integer was known and praised in old ancient times. The second perfect number is

28_ =_ 1+2+4+7+14

Euclid's Elements of Geometry includes a chapter on number theory, including a theorem about numbers

E(p)_ :=_ 2^p * (2^p-1)
being perfect when 2^p-1 is prime (so that p is prime too). The first three examples:

  • 2^1 * (2^2-1) = 2*3 = 6
  • 2^2 * (2^3-1) = 4*7 = 28
  • 2^4 * (2^5-1) = 16*31 = 496

Many centuries later, Leonhard Euler proved that all even perfect numbers are integers E(p) (where 2^p-1 is prime), i.e. there are no other even perfect numbers. This is very nice but we do not know whether or not there are infinitely many prime numbers of the form 2^p-1. In the case of odd perfect numbers, not even one is known, possibly there is none.

Todski, share your thoughts (if you're so inclined). I'll post one more short, then I'll comment on all four shorts 0-3 in a follow-up. Thank you for your feedback.

wh, short 4--you vs. your views.

--

Tolerant views are nice but if you're not a tolerant person then--whether you realize it or not--you and your views are hypocritic & cheap & ignorant & harmful.

I am tolerant, even appreciative.
But also evidence from multiple studies
Indicates that bullies continue to bully until someone says stop. Every decent human being should tell a bully to stop.

Narcissistic personality disorder can be mitigated with intensive therapy.
Hopefully it is addressed before a teacher
Directs other students to beat a kid down
To maintain her elevated thirst for power.

So in this instance what and how are we to define bullying, and from whose perspective?

Bullying is threatening or getting others to threaten, insult, intimidate or physically harm someone with less status or little protection.
I am hoping that is all over, now. Surely we are older. Possibly we are wiser as well.

Ahh i meant bullying in a general sense, I wasnt pertaining to literotica and its forums only.

What does bullying do as a social fixture within institutions? You can look at it from two sides in my opinion with out getting bogged down in the multivaried analyses i.e. at the individual level. What does a bullying culture do and promote?

A bullying culture promotes heirarchy and uniformity. This is antithetical to a site meant to promote creativity and diversity.

I was hoping to move away to broader conceptualisation of it, but yes it does create heirarchy and unifprmity, but all socialisation creates heirarchy bullying just acknowledges it to its furthest degree, but what does it do? It creates value because exclusivity always creates competetive value, doesnt mean it right but it exists, for me the why and understanding is as important as raising shit to the ground screaming down with bullying......

It also creates a form of strength from an emotional and psychological level if viewed through the right lens. But this is all opinion

I love this piece, its runs a serious loop regarding the use of comppassionate thought to try and bully those with less tolerant views it's clever and sophisticated thinking from my judgemental and often neanderthalish perspective

'razing' (which automatically means bringing to the ground. When you raze an enemy position it's just gone, gone, gone [solid gone as some Martin D-28 Dreadnought guitarists might lyricise])

Neanderthals weren't as stupid as some bullying anthropologists have suggested:)
