How to safely store pics online for linking?

I know there is no perfectly safe way- online means access- but if I do want to put pics somewhere so I can link them, where is the best place, so that each can only be seen if I send a specific link?

Dropbox? Tumblr? Does Google Drive allow naked or porn type pics?

Again, as safely as can be expected storing online.

In dropbox you get a link to the file or folder, and that allows you to share the pictures.

Files or folders in your Dropbox folder can be shared, instantly. All you have to do is select the file and then select Share link from the Dropbox menu. Once you do, you can send the link to anyone over email, instant message, text message...you name it. People who click the link will get a preview of the file or folder on the Dropbox website. They'll also have the option to download a copy of the file. If the person you share the link with already has the file or folder saved in their Dropbox, they will be taken directly to that file or folder's location.

Thanks :rose:
I know they offer this- my poorly worded question was meant to ask about the safest and/or best of the linkable storage sites, that allow such pics.

Oh- also, no pop up ads for the recipient.
And it doesn't have to be free, although free is good

Don't, every image you store is accessible and traceable to you, unless of course these are sunsets and landscapes, which I'm guessing they're not. Your online presence is identifiable, searchable, and eternal. You'd be wise to remember that.

There is kind of a way...host your own website. Of course the minute you post a link that picture is out there. The person that received the link and re-post it, grab the picture and re-post that.

The internet if forever and forever.

Given that nothing is 100% safe, is there a site that you all would recommend that we use? How does the majority attach actual photos to their posts? We've been using Dropbox, but I'm uncomfortable with that. I'd rather be able to attach a photo (on those rare occasions I post).

Thank you!

There are detailed instructions on attaching images to posts (and a bunch of other forum logistics) in our FAQ sticky. :)

I use imgur, although they don't have an iPhone app that works anymore. Which stinks. But it's a nice clean way to link without ads or weird stuff on the screen.

Now, as for safety, I don't know that it's any better than anything else, although I've heard that Dropbox is one of the worst safety-wise.

I take the usual precautions: no face, no identifiable marks in any pics, dummy email accounts affiliated with the imgur acct, etc. Nothing's fool proof, but honestly, just about everyone under the age of 50 has taken a dirty pic of themselves with their phones at this point. I think that in a few years, it won't be seen as the career ender it is today. Just my opinion.

And remember to switch off "location services".

Not much use if your face is hidden, but the coordinates to your home is attached.

Get your own hosting. You can get basic plans for $5 a month, then no worry about broken images, getting images taken down. Get a domain, and host them yourself.

When posting... the more sensative of your photos, convert them to PNG format before posting, this wipes the EXIF information that the camera embeds into standard JPG images.

Its an extra safety precaution in case there is embeded metadata like geolocation coordinates, unique device IDs etc in the jpg, that you might not know about.

converting to PNG using a cheap or free program like irfanview wipes this data.

Just a little extra precaution.

Safe? Internet? That sounds like an oxymoron.
