Quote of the Day!

Despite my almost permament single status in the RW, thank you yeishia, lovely thoughts.

~ Reciting from 10th grade memory so please correct me if I'm wrong! Everyone knows it but I thought someone should add it anyway! Classic! ~

"Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name or if thou wilt not; be but sworn my love and I'll no longer be a Capulet"

~ Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet ~

Special thanks to my English and Drama teachers, neither one of them ever let up and therefore I'm unable to ever forget this little friggen speech! :D Thanks for the correction Fatang!

It's:

...be but sworn my love...

but that is a hell of a memory you have, damn near spot on.

So I bought this Western Philosophy book at a used bookstore once, and inside the front cover, written on the first page under the title and publisher, in blue pen, was the phrase:

That is so Fucking Prophetic, it makes me ache.

I have no idea who wrote it.

Also, whenever life gets me down, I remember this:

"You come from nothing, you go back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!" -Eric Idle

“The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.”

“Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy;
it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow and then for ourselves.”

“Happiness... consists in giving, and in serving others.”

"Success is getting what you want, Happiness is liking what you get."

"Friendship marks a life even more deeply than love. Love risks degenerating into obsession,
friendship is never anything but sharing.”

“Woman was taken out of man; not out of his head to top him, nor out of his feet to be trampled underfoot;
but out of his side to be equal to him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved”

God woman!I'm with Fatang - good memory...testing mine though the teachers didn't drill me quite as much and I don't think I paid good enough attention!

"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east and Juliet is the sun! Arise fair sun and kill the envious moon."

- Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet

;) Did I get it right?! I might die of shock if I did though!

It seems that I have inspired a Shakespeare run:)

You spoke of school - now for a test!

Where are the following quotes from exactly , which play or sonnet or.....?

Unlike the others quotes previously these have not been on TV lately hehe

Quotes of the Day by William Shakespeare :rose: (1564 - 1616)

~ A friend is one who knows who you are, understands where you have
been, accepts what you have become, and still gently
allows you to grow. ~

~ So dear I love him that with him, all deaths I could endure. Without
him, live no life. ~

~ They do not love that do not show their love.
The course of true love never did run smooth.
Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love ~

~ I'll follow you and make a heaven out of hell, and I'll die by your
hand which I love so well ~

~ Doubt thou the stars are fire; Doubt that the sun doth move;Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love. ~

~ Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds. ~

I will help a little. The last one is from Sonnet 116

Shakespeare Sonnet 116

Let me not to marriage of true minds admit impediments.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love

Which alters when it alteration finds,

Or bends with the remover to remove:

O no! it is an ever-fixed mark

That looks on tempests and is never shaken;

It is the star to every wandering bark,

Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks

Within his bending sickle's compass come:

Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,

But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error and upon me proved,

I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

no accuser so terrible
as the conscience that dwells in the heart of every man.'' - Polybius.

Unfortunately I never did test well in school  too busy making the teacher's lives a nightmare but this one I know! I did Romeo and Juliet but my sister did A Midsummer Night's Dream and this quote is definitely from that play! I did so love that line!
I think it was Helena that said it to Demetrius? Or rather about Demetrius cause I think he left and then she said it?

Here one from another play studied in school:

"The greater your arrogance, the heavier God's revenge."

~ Chorus line from Antigone by Sophocles

"Pain is God's way of saying, 'Hurts, don't it? Say Me damn it again!'"
-Chiristopher Titus

Caught this one, awesome by the way. Love's Labour's Lost, end of scene 2, Don Adriano is talking about his the girl he loves, who just happens to be a redhead...

Everyone should read Love's Labour's Lost; It's funny as hell, and full of people you hate and people you like. Here's more from it:

...by heart you love her, because your
heart cannot come by her; in heart you love her,
because your heart is in love with her; and out of
heart you love her, being out of heart that you
cannot enjoy her.

and

I would forget her; but a fever she
Reigns in my blood and will remember'd be.

and

Light seeking light doth light of light beguile:
So, ere you find where light in darkness lies,
Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes.
Study me how to please the eye indeed
By fixing it upon a fairer eye,
Who dazzling so, that eye shall be his heed
And give him light that it was blinded by.

Go, read it now.

not someone I ever thought I would quote...but it made me chuckle.

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.- Mark Twain

There are only four questions of value in life.
What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made of?
What is worth living for?
What is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same. Only love.
Don Juan Demarco

Thank you Alana your quotes made me smile, gave me pause for thought and made me sad all at the same time:rose::heart:

"I believe Shakespeare said best: All the world's a stage, and you are crap!" -Colin Mochrie <Who's Line is it Anyway?>

Quotes from my hero:

I intend to live forever, or die trying.

I worked my way up from nothing to a state of extreme poverty.

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I'm not feeling very well - I need a doctor immediately. Ring the nearest golf course.

Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who wants to live in an institution?

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

There's one way to find out if a man is honest - ask him. If he says, "Yes," you know he is a crook.

Whoever named it necking was a poor judge of anatomy.

Just in case you can't read it cause it's rather small -

"I want to be remembered as the girl who always smiles even when she wants to cry and the one who could always brighten up your day even if she couldn't brighten her own."

~ Author Unknown ~

Truly indicates how I feel most of the time but particularly tonight
