That's the Gup traitors' nightmare. Senate rules require only a limited federal deficit explosion. If other high-deduction states -- Texas, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania -- take the same sort of measures to protect their taxpayers from federal Gup larceny, the deficit explosion will be nuclear, and the toxic tax bill is doomed.

It really is toxic. Killing the federal deductions means workers' earned incomes are double-taxed. Productive, prosperous 'blue' states will be forced to increasingly subsidize deteriorating, unproductive 'red' welfare states. It's a good deal for lazy leeches.
 
Back to the original question. The next legislation might be a redo of the tax bill. It's increasingly becoming evident that neither version of the current bill comes anywhere close to the campaign promises Trump made. If he has any consistency, he might not sign the bill they are reconciling. He could only help himself by slamming it and telling them to give us something closer to what he promised.
 
Maybe all the public land and mineral resources that Trump sells off should be used to shrink the deficit.

Here's something else to consider: When Social Security and Medicare are both bankrupted by "Management Fees", YOU folks will be on the 'hotseat' to provide food and money for medicines for YOUR parents and grandparents!

Another thing to think about: Currently those older people living on Social Security payments spend all their money, every month on food, shelter, and medicines. In other words, they put every dime they receive back into the Economy. When that money drys up, primarily because of the rethuglicans, what is going to replace it? The wealthy? Ha, ha, ha, I couldn't even write that without laughing.

Finally, if the Liberals, that many of you look down on, are Socialists in your mind, that makes the rethuglicans out there in Fascists. And, if you look closely at Communism, as it is practiced on this planet, it consists of a relatively few extremely wealthy people at the top of the government, running the country, with the vast majority of the population living in comparatively poor conditions. If you think I'm wrong, feel free to investigate how most of the Russians live as compared to Putin and his friends.

It'll be great for me. I should be saving about $30,000 with the raise of the AMT minimum. My mom, though, who's on a fixed income would be screwed if she didn't have kids to take care of her. It's a mixed bag. I applaud Rubio getting the increase on the Child Tax Credit. That'll at least help the poor in a way, in that, if I understand it correctly, they'll be able to get a refund even if they owe no taxes.

My biggest problem is the one I always have with tax cuts. Unless you cut spending, and I'm looking at you Defense budget, what's the point?

The exaggerated answer - Russia withdrew it's support.

The leader of the movement withdrew the ballot initiative after stating he was seeking permanent residence in Russia. He'd already been runing the movement from Russia where he was living as an expat. He'd attended college there, at Putin's alma mater. He was married to a Russian. Somehow he had been able to afford to establish an "embassy" for the movement inside Russia while working as an English teacher.

His departure didn't entirely kill the movement. A marginalized CA secession movement had existed for many years before Trump won. It continued when he left it. They vowed to carry on and start another initiative. After losing the leader with strong Russian ties they faded back into the movement's more normal status - obscurity. Correlation is not causation. It's an interesting correlation though.

I agree about the bloat. I would just like to see defense a part of any cuts, instead of getting an extra $50 billion. But that would mean Congress would have to come to a compromise, and they just don't do that.

They can lie to us and shit all over us and we keep re-electing them NO MATTER WHAT! It boggles my mind. Some of them have been their so long they don't even know what year it is or who's in the white house anymore. Seriously....they will get re-elected, I grantee it.

If they all died and somehow never had their names removed from the ballots....they would still get re-elected.

The tax bill's major purpose, besides enriching the Gups' corporate owners, is to cause massive deficits that can only be 'cured' by killing Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, all health programs, the whole safety net, as well as most individual legal rights and protections.

Return to 1900, when robber barons still ruled, 10% of American urban women survived as prostitutes, a large proportion of workers were killed or maimed on the job annually, and races were segregated. Read Otto Bettmann's THE GOOD OLD DAYS - THEY WERE AWFUL! for a taste of the Gups' American dream.

Congress has a 19% approval rate and a 90% reelection rate. Or country is so gerrymandered that voting for the house is an illusion. They have no loyalty to their constituency, just to the lobbiests.

Plus, there is this weird idea that "Congress sucks, but my congressperson is okay!" which just proves how partisan and stupid we are. The Republicans/Conservatives are going to vote R and Democrats/Liberals are going to vote D, and the rest of us have either given up or are only Independent in name.
