Why do the police continue to yell, "Open the door - it's the police" when encountering a locked door during these incidents?

Of course the trapped people aren't going to open it for them. Case in point: just now, a parent said students were specifically trained not to at this school because, duh, the person on the other side of the door might be a shooter, lying to them.

Why is this concept seemingly so difficult for police forces to understand? :confused:
 
17 dead.....that's a lot of thoughts and prayers from the WH, Congress and other politicians.....

Surely future massacres will be averted through the sheer volume of prayers being offered today.

No where - absolutely no where - in the Constitution does it empower the Supreme Court - in any way - to RULE all on its own that any individual has any "right" to privacy in which they can intentionally & tortuously kill completely innocent and & totally defenseless human life.

Do you understand government is only LEGALLY empowered to act as the Constitution SPECIFICALLY/PURPOSELY/LIMITEDLY endows it to?

These things are drilled into their heads over and over and over so when a situation is somewhat different they don't think like that even if they're trained to because it just doesn't come up as often. How many cops actually have to deal with that? But most have had to serve warrants or similar things.
It's really not the cops fault or even the training. It's just life.

There has always been crime, and there will always be crime. Utopian beliefs that we can replace FORCE with the social worker and 'comprehensive mental health care' is a dream that will never be realized. Can better mental health care help? Certainly, but the answer to active shooters is the fastest possible bullet to their forehead, and that's not coming in a ten minute wait for the police to arrive.

So you advocate shooting troubled children, rather than helping them get help so that they never feel the need to engage in this sort of behavior in the first place?

Maybe you need some comprehensive mental health care?
