What would you like to know?

Noisier than you’d think. The Zorn Industries blimp scenes are accurate that way.

We want to know MOAR!

How did you get the gig? Win a radio contest? Work hard for years and years on the weekends between the hours of 4:15 and 4:30 am? A gift from a former well-endowed (wink wink) "friend" (more wink wink)?

a cushion i made for my youngest - sorry about the image size but right now i can't be arsed to shrink them. anyway, i knitted the cover.

edit, okay, i decided i should resize

Spent a few days at HQ for a televised mini documentary on the development of the Goodyear Aquatread tire.

That's nice. Usually when I sew terrycloth the seams are all lumpy. And crooked. (Hey, I never said was GOOD at it.)

And...?

C'mon, you know you wanna tell us everything. Don't be bashful, speel it.

Oh, and moar pics. I never seen the dashboard of a blimp before. (hint hint)

Jesus Christ you must be absolutely covered in fuzz. Nothing sheds like fun fur when you're knitting it. You'd have come out looking like you skinned Kirby alive.

well, not terry cloth nor fun fur - it's a super soft knitting yarn that has a basic core but also a thin, sort of looped element as well, like this but i think the stuff i used is a bit chunkier while, at the same time, super soft and light.

https://picclick.co.uk/James-C-Brett-Fairy-Cakes-Double-Knitting-Yarn-202081212012.htmlit's great, doesn't shed at all and knits up really fast.

I have some of that once- I bought one of those blind yarn lots at a second-hand shop. I've only got like a skein and I have absolutely no idea what the fuck to do with it. I'm not going to knit something I won't use, so I thought like maybe a scarf or a hat or something but I don't think I'd ever wear it and I know no one else would.

Also, if you pull real hard the loops break so I might just go through the whole thing snapping them like he-man until it's just normal yarn and get like 5x the yardage.

Edit: Also, fuck fine yarn. And fucks socks as a concept. You want to piss me the fuck off get around me while I'm making socks. If I have more than two needles and you interact with me in any way I will fucking end you.

I don't get into all that kind of woodwork. No patience. I do have a hunk of Hickory that I cut a few rounds off of. Thinking about making a clock.

Well? Where's the clock?

You could always get a lathe and make a bowl outta that hickory. or Christmas ornaments like these (which aren't mine):

I did this chest a few years ago. It's cedar lined (REAL cedar, not that awful roll of crap you can buy at the home store). All of the carving is done by hand.

Or, you could use it to smoke up some ribs or a pork shoulder.

I have made most of the furniture in my house. made a bunch of jewelry boxes and such, even a few Urns

Pics dude, pics.

Or I'm gonna toss your contribution to this thread into the compost heap with that one about the taters in a bucket.

It looks beautiful. I like the classic look.

It weighs a ton since it's all solid wood. There's a sliding "till" inside to hold fine/small things. I gave the chest away within a couple of months of finishing it back in 2003 (or at least I think that's when I did).

This is a shot of the corner pieces on the lid. I attempted a bit of "ageing" with the finish that didn't quite work out the way I envisioned it. It needed to be less red and more black in the reliefs. I'd do better now but didn't have the knowledge/experience/practice back then that I do now.

The carving style is called "Gadroon" and it cannot be replicated by a machine. Not even CNC.

Your work is total carpentry porn, HisArpy. I do work some with wood too, but noting that sophisticated, at least yet.

I like the fine details, yet so subtle.

Props to you, I'm terrible with my hands and I salute anyone who can create wonderful wood working.

Well? Where's the clock?

Picture is accurately entitled 'ClockNot' since this is as far as I've gotten. Found out the stem on the clock works isn't long enough top go through the hickory slab. I'd have to route the back of it to accept the works which I don't feel like doing. Maybe coaster? A big, heavy coaster?

A big Forstner style bit will hog out the back enough that you can put the works in.

4 holes with a 32mm Forstner in a square pattern ought to do it. Measure the length of the movement shaft and subtract that from the slab thickness. The remainder is the depth you need to drill with the Forstner bit. Simple.

If you go too deep, some flat washers can be used as spacers.

2 hours from now that clock could be on the wall and you could post pics of your "completed" project. So, get to it. :D
