The Hobbit + LOTR fanwrites thread

The March Of The Ents

From the highest winding branch
Down to the deepest gnarled root
To the furthermost wavering leaf

The decision is moot

Moot moot moot moot
Moot moot moot moot

Here no more are we for ourselves
We are off to help the little ones
And Men and Dwarves and Elves
Endured we have many moons and suns

Dating back to ages ancient
In this constantly changing world
Our existence is becoming rapidly spent
We come now with leaves unfurled

We are Ent

Moot moot moot moot
Moot moot moot moot

The wrath to avenge our planted
Friends of acorn, nut, and seed
Is a thing not to be taken for granted
Though we may move with little speed

And we may be torn of every limb
From biting axes sap may bleed
Tell the wizard we come for him
A warning he should seriously heed

We are Ent

Moot moot moot moot
Moot moot moot moot

From Fangorn we march, drawing near
To tear apart and smash and rent!
The largest cog, the smallest gear
Of the cursed black stone monument

Sorcery from Isengard may be our demise
Flood every trench, shaft and vent
Drive out Saruman the once Wise
To Sauron let this be the message sent

We are Ent

Moot moot moot moot
Moot moot moot moot

Eowyn's Song

Running
I sprint
Dashing into war
Not in want to make a name for myself
Leaving such a fool's misguided folly
To the unrequited sycophantic

No opportunity for despair
Fewer moments to spare for melancholy
Unwavering is the gilded blade
I wield impossibly in the frantic

Charging through the collapsing lines
Fury of the axe upon tin shield
Flaming volley raining down
Death everywhere on the battlefield

Dodging the poisoned tips of spears
Becoming painfully numb to my fears
As I watch yet another mother's son
Die within the prime of his years

A weaving of mist, ash and fume
I choke for breath in the woolen air
Draped across the plain as if a bloody wound
Nursed without any tender care

Too late for any promises to keep
As I venture deep into the foray
To find more of my kin
Have come to lay
Dead and broken

Their fate
An eternal sleep
Blanketed underneath this awful burial shroud
It takes everything in me to carry onward

Lamenting the fallen
And through the tears

I wail aloud

Now you shall taste
The deadly sweet kiss of my blade
Far from being a timid lass
I am no servant maid
The mold of my destiny
Long ago was cast
Forged for this battle
I was made

And if I remain standing
When this darkness has passed
In the fleeting moments of your life
Your very last
If your ego is that demanding
Take it as an insult to your pride

And wear it like a crown
On this very day
You will have died

Under dawning sky
When the morning star comes around
You may shatter my bones
But I will not break
No swinging hammer shall ever bring me down
If any can

In a lifetime spent unafraid to die
And having lived quietly in the shadows of men
Now hear the rage in my voice
My battle cry

Hear it loud
Suffer me now

I am no man

The Doom Of Man

Listen, in the distance

Doooooom

Again, there it is

Dooom dooom

Sounding of the war drums

Doooooom

Movement on the horizon

Dooom dooom

Wait

Stand your ground

The final hour is drawing near

Doom doom doom doom

Hear the drums beat
Ground shaking beneath your feet
As if the very earth is coming alive
With a pulse of ten-thousand strong
Marching swiftly along
Without break in their rhythm
Or mistep in their stride

Fueled by hatred
From an insanity crossbred
Tormented existence, wretched, despised
Whips lashed against their backs
Hills blemished with rank and file tracks
As they continue pressing onward
In the chill of the night

Cold rain
Begins it's steady fall
As their front lines come to a halt
Beyond the great stone wall
And now the hour is here
To succumb to everything you fear
No choice but to make a final stand
Death has come for one and all

Together,
Elf and Man
Embrace the horror at hand
Fighting side by side
A testament to these dark times
As volley after volley
Of flaming catapult shot
Shatters, collapses towers
Upon bodies left to rot
Battlements overthrown
The fires raging hot
And on through the maelstrom
Beat the war drums

Doooooom

Dooom dooom

Doooooom

Dooom dooom

Retreat

The wall is breached

All the while the White Wizard laughs

Doom doom doom doom

As the Age of Men
Begins to come crashing down
In a miserable pathetic end
With nowhere to hide
The time has come now
For the Orc and Machine
Smashing the once legendary refuge
Into the mountainside
Fire undoing stone
Helms Deep has become overthrown
And on through the maelstrom
Beat the war drums

Doooooom

Dooom dooom

Doooooom

Dooom dooom

Doom

Racism, rape and monkies pissing themselves were already well covered in numerous topics.

I thought I'd do something different.

Last Ride Of King Theoden

Black are the clouds spanning the horizon
Dark as my dreams have been of late

If these are to be the final days of Men
We shall make such an end of this fate
Die before breaking to live in chains

The sound of our hooves shall shake the very plains
Beneath the feet of our enemies
Every last foul beast
Witness them tremble
Hear them howl

Tonight, we ride East

Sound the ralley horn
Muster the Rohirrim
Fathers and Brothers
As many sons as you can allow
Let these dark hordes know
We shall them suffer no further
Not ever

We are the Horse Lords
And we are coming for you now

Ride swift
Towards doom and ruin

Ride hard
Not for want of glory or with false pride

Ride now
Mighty warriors of Rohan

Into battle
For what is certain to be our last ride

A Mere Trinket

Hold me in your hand

Such an ordinary metal band I am
Shiny
Gold reflected in your widened eyes
So cool the touch upon your fingers
As ancient hands grasping for control
Sense the power that still lingers

Pick up the pace, my little Master

You can afford to walk just a little faster
Now
After biding the ages under water for so long
Later coveted in the darkest of caves
Grinding the weakest of minds in a slaughter
Becoming master to the slaves

Try me on for size

While I regale you with stories full of beautiful
Lies
Being whispered, calling you by name
Face the great Eye burning in mystery
Always seeking this mere trinket long forgotten
That should have never slipped out of history

Journey forth to the lands of Mordor

With this kingly gift that I am so
Precious
Ring forged long ago in a molten rift
Where flames of jealousy burned white hot fervent
Fanning the distrust between Elf and Dwarf
As nine crowned men each became a servant

Little Halfling
Bring Him the ring
And Our armies will sing
Songs reveling about you
For what its worth
A King of Middle Earth you will be made

Now, fade

Let yourself fade away

Fade to black

I watched The Desolation of Smaug this weekend. I started laughing during the opening scene and barely stopped until the ending.
I'm still trying to figure out what story it was actually based on.

It's been so long since I read the books I hardly care. Just throw well made fantasy at me.

Peter Jackson is definately going a bit overboard with story enhancements.

Still won't stop me from watching.

It's not even that. Even if it were made from whole cloth, which it pretty much was, it's a crappy movie, even worse than the first one.

It's a scale and magnitude thing. It's a huge story. To tell it chronologically would take decades on film. The book and movie have to be two separate entities. Could someone else have done better? That would be unlikely. The dedication to task set forth by Jackson is epic in itself.

WTF?
Thanks for the laugh.

I wonder if Jackson has any plans to make Silmarilliom a movie. That might be another trilogy.
