It was a four day adventure of discovering the nitty-gritty side of the disappearance of life in these once thriving towns. Here are just a few pics from my trip.

Thank you.

I grew up in the midwest, decades ago, and this takes me back.

This reminds me of so many places...so many times...so many feelings...and I can almost taste the dust as I try to wash it away with some vino.

I haven't thought about stuff like this for years.

I haven't felt stuff like this for years.

Riding banana seat bikes to play in abandoned buildings and houses. Cigarettes stolen from relatives packs over time now shared with stories of truth and bullshit and fear. Exploring desolation from which springs so much life. Summer days so hot that a rusty nail would sizzle skin it touched when brushed.

Kisses stolen, and given.

Fistfights so feral, so brutal, it gives me pause even as a man.

Then, driving by years later when given the freedom of internal combustion, and laughing while telling stories of truth and bullshit and fear.

How did I end up past the witching hour on a Friday night, stepping into the Wayback Machine through a window on a "smut" site?

Art.

Really appreciate the soul of your writing, sharing, and your bound self portrait drawing. ^_^ The few times I've been tied have been memorable and emotional and your soft sketchy lines really convey that otherness.

I prefer more of a loose drawing style. Thanks for stopping by.

in praise of Analog

what a cracking little thread. a golden find.

I was always a fan of etching. The clunk of the rollers in the press and then the reveal.

I read there is a resurgence of print film as well. so many hours of fun in a darkroom.

Nice pics and drawings

Do you have a photo essay posted anywhere? I did a set of downtown Norwalk in CT recently, another dying space. I've been collecting 'trees'and 'shop fronts''. Thought my other talents turn to words and music - though we use art for our small press book covers.
We run a reative Arts'' community on one of the major swinger sites.
Love to see more of your images.

This is great, I really like it. Collages offer so much creative potential and B&W is always a good choice.

I love how the black & white enhances the atmosphere of desolation and abandonment. Color photos could never achieve that effect. In any case, interesting subject matter, captured perfectly by your camera!
